What would you do with Super Bowl tickets???
If the Vikings manage to reach and win the NFC Championship Game, Vikings season ticket holders who purchased all of their playoff tickets would be eligible to participate in a lottery where they could win the right to purchase two Super Bowl tickets at face value.
Face Value isn't exactly cheap, last year going at $800 and $1000 each.
However, one article I read said that re-sold SB tickets from last year went for around $3100 each, though some could be found for less than $2000.
At any rate, this sounds like someone with a pair of tickets purchased for say, $1600, could be looking at a potential profit of $2400+ by selling those tickets.
My question is: What would/will you do if you get two Vikings SB tickets at face value?
As much as I would love to go to the game, I cannot justify spending $1600 for four hours of entertainment, much less turn down making a quick $2400+ profit.
I'd sell them in a heartbeat.
I don't have a big screen HDTV yet, I could turn half that profit into a nice HDTV.
What about you?
Would you go to the game, or sell them cheap to another Vikings fan who wanted to go, or listen to that inner capitalist that is inside most of us?SKOL VIKINGS!

You've laid out the economic case just as I saw it.
I do hope, however, that I have to make that choice come January!!

I would sell them, for a profit. The earnings would go towards future season tickets.
If I got free tickets I would probably go to the game.

Re: What would you do with Super Bowl tickets???
As alot of us know, a SB just doesn't come around every other year or so.
I would have to ask someone who has been to one, his opinion.
I'd probably opt to go ahead and cash out and use the money for something else.
Were is Nodcack when you need him.
Only cat I know thats actually been to a SB.
All the rest are poor like me and can't afford it.
;D
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

if I could afford them then I'd go but as that's never likely to happen then luckily I won't ever have that dilemma. However as good as it is on the TV then if they win then the atmosphere will be fantastic and something you'd never forget of course if they lose...
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Re: What would you do with Super Bowl tickets???
I would go.
In a heartbeat.
FYI, it will still likely be possible to resell the tickets, but it might not be as easy as you think.
The NFL imposed a new rule for 2010 that all tickets must be collected in person at the stadium.
The tickets will be in the owner's name, and the owner needs to claim the tickets with a valid ID.
With the tickets the NFL awarded through the annual lottery, they are allowing ticket owners to change the name on the ticket ONCE, and this must be done NLT January 6th 2010.
This is, as you know, BEFORE the playoffs, and possibly even before the Vikings do their superbowl lottery.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: What would you do with Super Bowl tickets???
I've wondered this for years.
My head says take the money and run.
But my love of the Vikings has little to do with my head so...
I'd love to go but I'd also love to watch a Vikings Superbowl victory with the gang of guys who I've suffered with for decades.
I'd likely stay home but I might go.
Or, hey, I might sell the tickets and go to Miami for the festivities anyway. With my profit I could rent a generator and big TV and watch from the parking lot in a all day tailgate extravaganza.
It would be a nice dilemma to have anyway.
