What Type of Stadium Do You Prefer?
We old timers remember the Purple People Eaters lined up, steam bellowing from their helmets, poised to wreak havoc in the backfield. The steam came from the subzero temperatures at the outdoor Metropolitan Stadium, a venue that brought a chill (literally) in the hearts of the visiting playoff teams. The Dome changed the Frozen Tundra Magic, but we may soon have a chance to change the setting. What do you prefer?

I retractable roof would make the stadium more flexable. For example, we would never host a super bowl with an open air stadium.

Good point... We'd just have to ensure our Vikes were in that particular superbowl, playing a team like... the Steelers! Then it wouldn't matter!!!

I would love to see a retractable roof that would only be closed during a blizard or SUB-zero temperatures. The problem is making the stupid thing operate and retract in sub-zero temperatures would be difficult.

I could care less about hosting the Super Bowl. The NFL likes to hold them in warm weather climates anyhow. All the sponsors and money, who wants to walk up to a stadium when it is -20. Although we did get our "token" Super Bowl awhile back and Detroit gets their one I think next year or the year after.

I would like to see a stadium with features like Dallas's stadium. I would like to see an open (or retractable) roof over the playing field, but covering over the seating areas. Perhaps they could have heating systems limited to the audience area as well, which wouldn't warm up the playing field. That way the fans who pay 70+ dollars for a seat can be comfortable, but we get the weather elements on our home field.

open air baby....umm, until its 30 below windchill and I fondly remember the dome when my beer wasn't frozen.

Retractable roof would be nice for the freeze babies like me, but if getting a new and better stadium means open air then i'm all for it.
