If we take away their deep threat in Holmes and get to Roethlisberger which we WILL, there isn't anything they can do to us. Their biggest offensive weapon this week IMO, will be the best player on their team, Heath Miller. I think our LBs are in for a tough week.

Their secondary is garbage without Polamalu their safeties are probably the worst two in the league. If we put a chip on Harrison their pass rush will be seriously weakened. Work the west coast this week. Pound the rock with AD, then hit them deep down the seam to Shiancoe, or down the sideline with Berrian when their safeties are up in the box.

    Game plan will be big.

Tomlin will know better than most how to attack the cover 2, especially the strengths and weaknesses of our players. I don't think the Steelers match up with us in terms of talent. But coaching and heart might give them the win.

Although I'm by no means sure about a victory, I'm shockingly confident going into this week.

+1. I wish you were our OC and DC this week. Maybe you could get Tahi the whiff to block someone.

I know what you're saying, but the media make it out to be Favre and the Vikings. Favre leads Vikings to win over Ravens. Favre wins with last second field goal miss. Favre is 6-0. Plus the fact that a tornado formed over my house (no joke) the day he was signed.

    I hear the opposite.
Most of the media make it a point to say this is still APs team so I am not sure where you are getting that from.

They don't say Favre wins with last second missed FG and Favre's Vikings are 6-0.
They are saying that Favre is 6-0 for the first time of his career with the Vikings.
I can't answer to the tornado thing but if you want to become a Steeler fan so be it.
I will be a Viking fan no matter who dons the jersey.

Hey Vikes Fans! GREAT site you guys have here! Its nice to go to another forum and see knowledgable fans giving honest opinions! I have to say, as a life long steelers fan, this is the only game i EVER root against the Vikes! Gotta say i a fan of ALOT of guys on your roster dating back to the day os Cunnigham, Carter, Randy and Robert Smith.

Well, enough of the of all that. I can honestly say i think/hope this is the game where the Steelers are gonna show they deserve to be among the elite in the NFL in '09. A top flight opponent in the Vikings that will test both the Offense and the defense.

Trying to be as un-biased as possible, i REALLY think this match-up is just what the Steelers need. We're built to stop the run and bend but dont break against the pass! You guys have the best runningback in recent history IMO, if we can hold him to limited numbers then i think Farve becomes less effective. Thats our gameplan going into every game! Hold AP to short yardage and force 3rd and 7+ then force Brett to beat the blitz. And, if you dont know im sure you've heard, LeBeau brings pressure unlike any other DC other than the late Jim Johnson! Simply put, IF AP cant gain yards on 1st and second, i like our chances on D.

As far as our offense, i believe we also have an advantage there. While your front 4 is something speacial, its no secret the Vikes secondary has been sub-par to say the best. Jamming Santonio Holmes means you have to put someone at the line of scrimmage and thats a HUGE mistake! Holmes has more acceleration than he does "deep speed" and gets in and out of cuts better than most! Then you need saftey help over the top, which means single coverage on Ward, Miller and Wallace in our "Trips-Bunch" formation... thats no good either.
So as a steeler fan, if we can keep Allen and the Williams off of Ben, i think he has another 300+ day at Hienz Field!

All of this is a moot point if we cant slow down "Purple Jesus" Adrian Peterson and block your front four on D! Win or lose should be a great game, and aslong as there are no injuries a non confrence loss should be that dmamging to either sides playoff hopes!

How do you rate the Steelers O line, and does
the large amount of time Big Ben spends on his back alarm you a bit? Considering the 'Vikes proficiency at sacking oppossing qb's?

QB's who get 300+ days on us have all lost so far this year!
I agree the trips formation will give us trouble.
I also agree that we will throw underneath all day and Tomlin will never adjust to it.
See , we know a little about him also.

The one place I see an advantage is your offensive blocking down field. It has improved tremendously. And if our defense can't shed those blocks, Mendenhall will gash us on the outside of the tackles.

By the same token. Don't discount the Vikings defense. Prior to the injury substitutions in the fourth quarter of last week. It was very potent.

The Viking defense gives up yards, but is stingy with points.

Good luck.I hope for no injuries.

What does the media fucking matter?

Seriously? He DID lead is to a win over the Ravens and he DID almost single-handedly beat the 49ers. He also was very instrumental in the Packers win. The media has a reason to talk Favre.

As for saying Pitt will wreck Minnesota because of their coach and everything else a push? You think their offensive line is a "push" with ours. You think Rashard Mendenhall and Willie Parker are a push with All Day and CT? You think that the Steelers D-line is a push with ours? You must be kidding.

As far as certain units getting wrecked, I can most certainly see the steelers o-line getting wrecked. Ben has to get rid of the ball quick, so I see alot of dink and dunk, screens, and scrambles. If the 'Vikes D can keep the underneath locked down, well, it will be a long, painful day for Ben. I feel that's where the game will be won or lost for the Steelers, The o-line play vs. The 'Vikes pass rush. Alot of Steelers fans are ignoring this vital match-up. Seems to me.
