Re: What is our best option?

I agree. I watched that Cowboys-Eagles game here in Dallas (and yes, I DID have my Vikings cap on ! ).

Anyway ... The "Boys" looked really good, and Bledsoe looked great. He saw targets fast and got the ball accurately to them. I know that coach Bill Parcells HATES offensive penalties. The reason: when he was coaching the Jets, his team did a study in the off-season, that showed that if your team gets an offensive penalty, it cuts your chances of scoring on that drive by 50 % (!!!!!). That is why the good coaches in the NFL go ape**** when their Offense draws a flag, and they are right. It thus just drives me nuts when I see the penalties we Vikings get, because it cuts down our chance of scoring on that drive by half !! Tice seems to just blow that off...

Lombardi said, "in its essence, football is about blocking and tackling, everything else comes from that". Aikman said on FOX yesterday, "it is about who is more physical, because if you win that battle, all the other stuff follows". I totally agree.

I personally think our issue is not the O-line. I mean, count the seconds after the snap. If C-pepper has more than 4 seconds, the protection was good. Under 4, it is bad. That simple. C-pepper DOES have time, it is what he does with it. I also think our receivers need to learn to cut their routes short when C-pepper is in trouble more, and block downfield. I think having Moss on our team got the receivers into this "I don't do blocking" mode that Chris Carter hated. We need to change that.

Culpepper has to stop losing games. If you can't win the game, "manage it". I hate to say that, because Daunte has such unbelieveable upside, but that is where we are.

Tice needs to go, too. And he can take the entire coaching staff with him. Bring in Jim Fassel, and get coaches who can teach the basics.

I don't know perhaps DC is just lacking confidence. I agree with the above post if he has 4 seconds he should be able to deliver. I still think our offensive line is the heart of the problem, no matter what coaches are here.

I have heard way too much from the posters here about a new coach, it will not happen END OF DISCUSSION!!!! Well, at least until next season, so let’s look ahead at the rest of the season, I think I speak for the majority of true Vikings fans saying that there is plenty of season remaining, especially in our division which has been rather revolting. I think that the Vikings have a very legitimate shot at making the playoffs by winning the division.
The question I pose is, how much impact do you see the recent additions to the coaching staff make? Will Foge really help the defense? Same for the offense with the newly brought in Rhome? I think would be content if not happy with Rhome, someone who has run an offense in the NFL and leave the O-Line to our current O-coordinator. The question I pose to the rest of the Vikings faithful out there is, what is the best solution for the Vikings, except replacing the coach, because it will not happen.

As for your statement that the coach won't be replaced, it's a pretty safe one for you to post NOW that Wilfi has come out and said he wont, good call on your part. Secondly, what good is winning the division if the team isn't playing well enough to make it past the first round of the playoffs. Might as well loose and go for a good draft pick. It's NFC Champ. or SuperBowl ... the rest in the long run means nothing. That's the issue, this organization has not set it's sights realistically high enough. JUST making the playoffs is considered a good season ... that has to change.

As for the addition of the new coaches ... they can only help with schemes and such, that can only go so far. They can't play on the field and can't prevent the Numerous injuries affecting the team so far this year. You can't win games in this league with 3rd string players in the secondary for an extended amout of time. Their is a reason they are 3rd string. In the media you hear "Oh, the poor Patriots ... they have sooo many injuries we will not rip on them" but the Vikes, "They are an awful team, overhyped, they can't compete without the "Receiver I refuse to name", CPep was just a flash in the pan last year, on and on and on .... Take a peek at the numerous number of players injured on the defense alone ... not to mention Birk out for the year, CPep's current injury. Not making excuses ... but it's reality.

Finally, can you please define for me a "true Vikings fan"? As tired as you are of hearing about a new coach, which was logical till Wilfi made his statement, I am tired of people loosely throwing around the term a "True" fan of this team.
Yeah, this true Vikings fan crap needs to stop. Damn near all of us bleed purple on Sundays and want nothing more than Vikings wins, even if it proves us wrong about certain things, i.e. our opinions on Moss, C-Pep, Tice, etc. I am getting kind of tired with the way "true" fan is thrown around on here as well.

we need better O-line, OC, and DC. Period. We're all so used to what daunte can do the second he has some tuff games people start runnin for the hills. I'm not sayin daunte isnt part of the problem, cuz yes he needs to get his act together. The second we get a better OC and DC, is the second we will become the Superbowl Winning Minnesota Vikings.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

I think the comments about the penalties and the Lombardi comment are where the O line (and coaches) is (are) at fault.

Yeah, DC has had time to throw, and this year he is trying to do too much. He has taken a step back this year. He did manage the game last year and he did well. It was two years ago that he made a decision that he was going to manage the game(blatant attempts to throw the ball away) and from then until this year, you could see a big difference. I made the comment early last week that the only thing DC should me doing this bye week is some timing drills with the QB coach. 1-2-3-4 throw, 1-2-3-4 throw, 1-2-3-4 throw to ge the timing down in his head. If he doesn't have the ball out of his hands, throw it away or run.

We must realize that a new coach will not mean instant success. If you want a coaching change, you must be willing to pay the consequences, it could happen sooner than later, but I wouldn't count on it.
