What if we implode?
If you have read a lot of my posts (and if you haven't, you haven't read a lot of these forums lately; I'm long winded and tend to have an opinion on everything, for better or worst), you know I try to see things from a sunny-disposition point of view.
As such, I tend to see the "phoenix in the ashes", so to speak., when discussing a horrible 2014 season. If Cassel turns into the disaster he could be, and our OL once again under-performs, this could be a long season. But if that is a possibility, I am hoping the Zimmer/Turner dynamic duo have a plan as to what to do in that situation. Frazier kept trying to win games, and refused to get young players experience; of course, his job depended on it, so I really can't fault the man.
But I am hoping that if we go 0-5, or 0-6, we start putting in those players that NEED the playing time to mature. I want to see loads of Patterson and Floydd, along with the rookies we get and keep from this year's draft. I want to see the QB we decide to take, get him the reps in the games where he can succeed while playing Cassel in the games where the opposing defense is a monster.
Most of all, by week 15 or 16, I want to SEE the team we will be putting on the field in 2015 to get to the playoffs. We you have a team that is trying to turn things around, you never know WHEN the "turn-around" begins. It could be, and I'm desperately hoping it is so, THIS year. We could go 9-7 or 10-6, barely make the playoffs, and scare the hell out of some teams.
If that isn't the case, I want to know that will happen next year. Perhaps this is why I'm so much of a Manziel fan; if he IS the shit, he can put us in the mix very quickly. If he isn't, it isn't all that different than where we are right now. Picking a Bortles or a Savage means we are going to have to wait another year or 2... and I hate waiting!!
why assume that these kids in the draft cant start .you dont have to be a top ten pick to be a starter.you never know how a kid is going to turn out ...
....defence will get better with the new additions and coaching ...
new o cord and add some help on the o line we dont look that bad ....
The Packers are the team that will implode.
I think the Packers have some major concerns. We saw what happened to their offense when Aaron Rodgers went down with a collarbone injury. Consider the current status of their offensive line and defense. The Packers have REAL problems stopping the run, and their offense does not look as invincible as in past years. If they do not resolve these problems soon, they risk a non-winning record (8-8 or even worse). The arrow for the Packers, in my opinion, is pointing downward.

They are still a train wreck on defense and their receivers clearly took a hit with the loss of Jennings ... so they are much more manageable. They certainly COULD implode ...
But as long as they have Rodgers and Lacy in that backfield they are going to be formidable.

If ANY of these teams lose their QB, they will fall into a block hole and will not be seen again this year. All of these teams seem to have one thing that makes us all think they have good post-season chances, and that is their QB.
Does ANYONE really think the Patriots have a winning record if Brady gets injured in the pre-season? Hell, throw Stafford and the Lions into that mix; this is why I do not rule the vikings out due to our schedule or lack of a true Elite QB; our chances revolve around the entire team, not one man.
