What If The Vikings Had Drafted Calvin Johnson...
...would it have made much difference in our offensive scoring ability?
I don't think it would have simply because I don't believe we have a QB that could effectively throw long to him. And our other receivers aren't as good as what the Lion's have. Rice may be that good some day but he didn't even play much last week.
Frankly I'm glad we got AD instead although I know fans love to see those long passes.

No.
Because the Vikings wouldn't have Peterson, Rice or Allison, and probably not Robison, either.

Honesty, I don't think that CJ would have made a huge difference for us given our current QB situation.
AP was a much better draft choice for the Minnesota Vikings.

Given our current QB situation, Brady Quinn was a much better draft choice for the Minnesota Vikings.

I was wondering if someone was going to say that.
Quinn would have been a good choice as well.
It is really hard to say whether or not he would have made more of an impact for the Vikings.
One can argue that we already had two decent RBs, and were need a QB.
But on the flip side, Quinn will never evolve into the game breaker that AP will.
Short term: Brady Quinn would have been a better choice
Long Term: AP is the better choice.

What if he wasn't drafted by the Vikings?
Oh yeah, he wasn't.
Screw Calvin Johnson and all his crotch sniffers.

I agree that Peterson was the better pick for the Vikings.
But, I seem to recall a quarterback who was out of work in 1997.
I believe he was tiling floors or something, cannot really recall.
The Vikings picked him up.
Drafted a receiver named Randy Moss who complimented our existing receivers Cris Carter and Jake Reed.
Our starter was injured early in the season and we had to play the quarterback we signed.
With the help of a great receiving corp he was named MVP of the league that year by one source.
His name was Randall Cunningham.
The next season he stunk again and was benched in favor of Jeff George.
Re: What If The Vikings Had Drafted Calvin Johnson...
No on Calvin. I am glad we picked up AP. I wanted Calvin at first but AD is a better fit. I think if we pick up a solid WR and OL in FA and a good OL in the draft we will be OK. Good things to come I think. Is there going to be any good WR available in FA next year?

If CJ would have been there at 7 then he would have been a no brainer. Would he help this year? Not at all. As it stands I agree Peterson is a good pick. Sidney Rice is going to be a very good receiver IMO.
