    Re: What did you observe...

I saw our defense playing extremely well for who they were up against, they didn't do great on the run, but The Chiefs running game is UNSTOPPABLE. They have Priest Holmes and the best line in the league, nothing we could do about that, we shut down the pass though.

I also saw the offense completely clicking, depth at WR is great, our RBs are really competing to get more carries, great playing.

I also noticed our jerseys, they looked alot more purple than in previous years. Or just the last like 6-7 years, but when I sat down at my friends house, and saw them on NFL network I was blown away, it looked much more purple, anyone else notice this? Or am I just crazy.

I was disappointed at Michael Bennett's performance. The guy has phenominal speed, but he can't find a hole to use it. Our receivers are the exceptional... even Ryan Hoag looked impressive.

I thought the first team D played well. Most of Priest Holmes yards came by him improvising because our D was in the right place to stop the initial effort. Good running backs will do that to you. Our weekness still seems to be at LB, although Cowart played well. It'll be fun to see the defense gel over the next few weeks, with Henderson getting some playing time next to Cowart, and getting a healthy Smoot back.

yeah the jerseys looked way purple, a bit too much, it looked like the jerseys in NFL2K5. i dont know about our run D. I heard Will Shields and i think some other lineman wasn't playing for the cheifs. and i expected some sacks from our D-Line. oh well we won!!!!!!!!

I too only got a chance to listen to the game as well and Kudos to Fason and moore for doing their part to show Tice they deserve a shot. Fason's performace was good, but it needs to be noted he did so againts 2nd and 3rd stringers.

No injuries, at first i was surprised Johnson came in when he did, but after hearing about Grossman I am grateful Culpepper didn't suffer the same fate.

I take more away from what happened in the first half than anything, the Defense bent, but didn't break and will only get better, Culpepper is already in stride, special teams needs some tweaking, and hopefully the mediocre performance of Bennett will show MB he needs to bump it up a notch.

I just saw the ESPN highlights PEP is not missing a STEP! Nate looked good. You could tell they let him score towards the end of the play preseason and all.

Another good running team in the Jets coming up... so we'll be better prepaired and more aggressive against the j-e-t-s.

    Re: What did you observe...

Bennett looked bad and shouldn't be the starter, but I have been saying this for a long time and tice is gonna need to see more games where MM dominates and bennett doesn't nothing, before he finally gets it through his thick skull, that moore is twice the RB that bennett is, regardless of how frickin fast bennett is. Wow, long sentence!

Mewelde looked like what I expect from him. He is shifty and has unbelievable vision to find even the smallest hole. He doesn't ever dance in the backfield and is always descisive and knows where he is going. He is a compact and strong RB and showed yet again, his ability to make the first guy miss. He also showed some of his play making ability on a 45 yard kick return.

Fason, like evryone else said looked great. He showed more of an explosion to the outside then I knew he had. He looked similar to onterrio smith watching him play tonight, lets hope only his play is similar.

Erasmus James showed his unbelievable burst of the ball and showed everyone he is gonna be a heck of a play maker in this league. I realize he was going against 2nd string O-lineman, but all I was looking at was his burst off the ball and his ability to get to the QB, and he showed he is great at both. He will be a big factor on this D right away this year as a pass rush specialist, if not an every down DE

CJ Mosley was another rookie I was interested in watching. He is fighting with steve martin for that 8th and final spot on the D-line. I think he showed some real promise. He had some good tackles on running plays where he showed good ability to stand up his blocker and play off the block and make a play. He also showed a good hard bull rush on the center to get in the QB's face a few times. I would love to see us give this young kid a roster spotand let old man martin hit the road.

Darren Bennett had a horrible punt on his first attempt, of 29 yards, but settled in and punted better the rest of the time I saw him punt. I saw him down one punt inside the 3 yard line and had another with good hang time that was fair caught at the 10 yardline. I guess those are the only 3 punts I can remember. I am torn on this guy and would like to see dorsch get some more work and see what he can do. It would be nice if dorsch could be our punter and kickoff guy, so we wouldn;t have to keep inaccurate elling as our FG kicker, and could keep edinger.

Those are the individuals that stood out the most to me. Our run D with the first D was shockingly horrible. I know they have priest holmes and the best O-line in football, but for pete sakes we brought in a run stuffing DT and had 3 MLB's starting at LB, you would think we could stop a run here and there for no gain. The goaline stop was nice, but it came on a missed block. Hopefully we can shore up our run D a little more. At least I did see LB's in the right gaps, which we never saw last seasons, so there is hope.

I though sharper and chavous both looked pretty good. Our CB's were still playing extremely soft coverage, which just absolutely bugs the he!! out of me. When we have cover CB's like winfield playing off 10 yards on a receiver we know can't possible beat him, it just makes no sense what so ever. I wanna see more bump coverages from cottrell when smoot comes back next week.

Offensively we looked pretty good. Bennett struggled and our O-line needs to jell yet again, since we have some new guys in there and some guys back from injury, as well as a guy who moved positions. That really showed tonight and they looked great at times and bad at others. More time togther will make them more consistent. Receivers looked very good. Robinson looks rejuvinated and played a good game. Taylor and burleson each had a nice catch. Hoag played an awesome game when he finally got in. I am really hoping hoag can play his way onto this team and keep howry from wasting a roster spot. We have guys capable to being return guys and more dangerous return guys, that we can let howry go. Hoag also is a pretty good return guy IMO.

Overall I was impressed with the way our team as a whole played, considering it was the first game of the season and we had so many new starters. Penalties always come in a large amount in your first preseason game, so those didn't bother me.

Can't wait to see smoot and williamson out there next week and I hope Tice lets erasmus have a few reps with the first team D, so he can see just how good the kid is.

WOW! Only from the PPO stat master. Good read muchluv.

I think the CB's were probably playing soft to avoid injury... I really hope Bennett proves us wrong and makes us all feel silly for saying Moore is better than him...will have to see it though...I really hope Edinger wins the job. I've had enough of Elling....I think this was the D's first time to truly start jelling, hopefully they become one solid unit by week 1...
