Welcome to the Hot Seat, Brad Childress. I hope you enjoy your stay.
By allowing the Minnesota Vikings to spend over $70 million on new talent this past offseason, owner Zygi Wilf basically issued his ultimatum to head coach...
...
What do you guys think? This is a different take on things, isn't it?
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
I don't think the seat is going to be near as hot this year as it was last year.

Really? I have to disagree with you. This year, Childress has real talent. If he can't succeed with these guys, he can't succeed anywhere.
The Hot Seat has never been hotter for Chilly Dog.

I don't think the seat was hot last season at all. I mean, we didn't make the playoffs and Zgyi never even came close to saying Childress' job was in jeopardy.
This season, I think Childress will be under more pressure to have a playoff caliber team or his job may be on the line, thus the hot seat.
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
First off, let's just separate the various issues here:
a. Is Childress on a 'hot seat'. Answer: I don't know.
b. Is Tarvaris a huge question mark: YES!
c. Are the Vikings a playoff team: YES !
I see us being at least 10-6 this year and winning our division and being in the playoffs. I doubt that the "seat" is that hot. I think Chilly is making the right moves.
But the article has it right: if Tarvaris doesn't improve, and fast, he is gone...
My take on the Vikings is that we have (very, very soon) all the pieces in place that you need to make a run at the 'Show'. I seriously doubt that Childress is dumb enough to say, "well, Tarvaris is not that good, but he is my guy, and we are sticking with him.." if all the other pieces are there, and QB is not there...
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
I don't think he is on the hot seat. It may be warm, and we should expect to make the playoffs. But you can not predict injurys and other unforseen circumstances. I think as long as we don't regress in play that Childress job will be intact.
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
the only way he is on the hot seat is if we fail miserably, maybe start out 0-6. or finish wilh a 5-11 record

I'm with you on this one..
His seat will only be 'hot' if the above happened.
Which, frighteningly, very possibly could happen.
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
Childress is definately on the hot seat.
8 wins won't do it this season.
Re: Welcome to The Hot Seat, Brad Childress
8 wins or less and he is outta here
