I saw something good out of this game. Like for instance how Chad Greenway played like a hungry predator all over the field. He was our best player in this game IMO.
I looked up his stats and he got an amazing 16 tackles and the only sack by a Viking player (pretty good considering how Garcia was scrampling around all the time. That old guy can still run lol) Antoine Winfield did a good job too.

Re: Week 11 Official Thoughts & Observations

This game, to put it bluntly, constituted an utter failure on absolutely every level.
The score may suggest differently, but we were outplayed on pretty much every level - by FAR.
Our defense just couldn't stop ANYONE.
    Here are my grades:

QB: C- - Hate on Gus all you want, but he's not the one who lost us this game.
He completed the majority of his passes.
Sure, he didn't come through in the end, but then again, neither did anyone else.
Frankly, seeing as how he was sacked FIVE TIMES, I'm amazed he didn't throw any picks.
He was on his jiggly butt all day long.
Still, he didn't make any plays, which is why I can't in good conscience give him a grade above a C-.
RBs: C - Good first quarter, but we didn't really do much after that.
Then again, Peterson only got the ball SIX TIMES in the second half.
    Unbelievable.
WRs/TEs: C+ - They were decent, for what little we saw them.
    OL: F - What a horrible performance.
For three-quarters of the game they couldn't run block, and for the WHOLE game they couldn't pass block.
Five sacks is not acceptable from this unit.
I thought this was supposed to be one of the best units in the NFL.
    Ha.
Anybody who says that hasn't ever watched this team play.
DL: F - No pressure, and we weren't even able to stop the runs up the middle.
Easily the worst performance of the year for this unit.
Jeff Garcia made us look silly.
Why didn't we run containment plays, or even use a SINGLE spy?
The D-Line was simply outmatched today.
LBs: D+/C- - Greenway was pretty good, but this grade goes down along with all the rest of the defense.
DBs: D- - Winfield is the only thing keeping this from being an out-and-out F.

Special Teams: C- - Nothing really to report, until Hicks put it on the ground, that is.

Coaching: D - It was a close game, but we didn't do some things we really should've done.
For one, we should've put a spy on Jeff Garcia.
Also, we should've given the ball to Peterson more in the second half.
Granted, we didn't have much time to do ANYTHING in the second half, but he wasn't even in during the last drive, IIRC.

Overall Grade: F - What an awful, awful game.
Far worse than the score suggests.
Good teams are able to beat playoff-bound teams.
Who have we beaten that can be considered a legitimate playoff contender?
The only one I can think of is the Carolina game.
Games like this prove that we aren't a contender.
We SHOULD be a contender, but we're not.

I really hope this game doesn't mark the start of a new trend.
If it does, and we lose in similar fashion to Jacksonville, I just might take a page out of Cato's book and end all my posts with "Fire Childress."

    (End obscure history reference)

    The sucks.

-Ferrotte - no accuracy, no mobility......if only the back up QB wasn't named Tarvaris Jackson.
-Cedric Griffin - when has this trashbag ever had a good game? get him out now.
-Darren Sharper - sure he had the force fumble, but he repeatedly got abused by Garcia.
-Ben Leber - I really was hoping Erin would take over this spot eventually. Leber is okay at best and Garcia and Co. went after him.
-Ryan Cook - possibly the most garbaged piece of poo that ever walked the earth.

    The OK's.

-Peterson - no one can stop this guy except a bald dude name Chilly.
-Chad Greenway - played with great energy today.

    that is all.

Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

hey guys, don't blame gus, or cook, or the fact our defense couldn't get any pressure and let dunn and garcia run all day on us, don't blame the fact that there were some awful missed penalties against tampa, it was all clearly "chilly's playcalling"

Jeff Garcia killed us defensively today, plain and simple.
The guy we DIDN'T go after 2 years ago when he was a FA avoided our ferocious pass rush and basically thumbed his nose at Frazier all game long.
No doubt about it, the best weapon the Bucs had all game long was Garcia.
Even though they can't score TD's (Sound familiar?), they denied us the opportunity to play and wore our Defense out.

On the flip side, our Offense flat out blows.

    Frerotte is horrible.
Mind you, I still believe that he is less horrible than Tarvaris Jackson, but the margin is narrowing.
His passes were off target all game long, and while he avoided INT's, he didn't have too many inspiring plays either.
Quite simply, he failed to accomplish the basic prerequisite of an NFL quarterback, and that is, "Make plays".

    Ryan Cook was horrible.
    He was an absolute turnstile.
My question is, "Where was Kleinsasser?".

    Which leads to Darrell Bevell.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that Chiller passed off the play calling to Bevell in order to throw HIM under the bus at the end of the season and try and stave off termination for another year?
    I mean, seriously!!!
The play calling hasn't been very inspired, and I'm not sure if it's the fact that it's the plays called or if it's more a result of the plays available to be called suck.
In other words, I think the entire SCHEME sucks.

Bottom line, Chiller faith in Jackson caused us to pass on Garcia who bit us in the kiester today.
Chillers anemic and chronically deficient offense failed to generate points, and the Defense was completely baffled for most of the game.

Isn't 3 years of this crap enough?

    Caine
I'm with you man!!!! i've been saying that for weeks now!!..

Either way, 4th and 1... and we pass... i just don't get it..
Hicks fumble in the 4th on a kick off was just awful
defense couldn't get off the field..
Bobby wade on the first down didn't fall forward and instead decides to run out of bounds loosing a yard.... 0-3 on the next few plays
    Chester fumbles at the end...
AND ON THE LAST DRIVE WHY THE HELL IS PETERSON ON THE SIDELINE???? UNBELIEVABLE!!!
horrid play calling in the second half.. didn't even try to run the ball in the second half... where is berrian??

by far the worst game this year in regards to chocking, playcallling, turnovers in the 2nd half and whatever else you want to mention...

    absolutely awful!!.. Childress MUST GO!!!!!

I don't understand that with over 3 minutes to go in the game, you throw on every down when your running game was doing well enough to move the ball.
