Re: Are We Turning The Corner
with only one win against a team above .500 this year our favorite team can prove their worthiness by winning these last four games (the last 3 being against either division leaders or teams currently in the playoffs)

Re: Are We Turning The Corner
This team has a recent storied history of playing down to lesser competition and winning games thye should not.
Beat the Lions today, and I really like our chances.
Pending the suspension outcome, that is.A good friend will help you move...a best friend will help you move a body.

Wasn't Tice's 9-7 record 9 wins with only 2 wins against winning teams (others below .500) and the Bears win came at the end of the season while they were sitting starters for the post season."marstc09" wrote:

Boy you are negative lately. We will see what we are made of in the next 4 weeks. Our last 6 wins have come against teams who have only won 6, 0, 5, 5, 4 & 6 wins respectively. Two .500 teams, 3 sub .500 teams & 1 team still looking for their first win.
Of our 5 loses, we split with GB & Chicago & have lost to teams who have won 8, 11 & 9 wins respectively.
Beating teams that are .500 or worse hardly constitutes "turning the corner".
Our defense might be playing quite well, but our offense is no where near the caliber it needs to be to contend with some of the better teams in the league.
I'm not going to kid myself & think this is a great team because we beat some mediocre/poor teams. IMO the best victory we had all year was the Carolina game. When we can beat teams of that caliber more often than not, then we might be of playoff caliber.
A good passing team is going to pick our LB corp apart. It is our weak link on defense. Both Tennessee & Tampa Bay did it.
I dont recall you unrating that record for Tice when you compare Tice and Childress's first season, and now if the Vikes do go 2-2 they will again be 9-7, will Childress be fire....maybe....he might make it to the playoffs too..... but Childress is lucky his contract isn't expiring after this season.
Just something I think I noticed but could be wrong, but currently the Vikes are leading NFC North and have aa playoff chance and I'm almost feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
And if Chilly is replaced next season I might have a little smile ( ;D ) but I also wouldn't be surprised if he gets another year, and thats just because he's lucky his contract is still active.

Re: Are We Turning The Corner
Looking at today's game, it doesn't look like we're turning the corner at all. The Lions are making us look like, well, the Lions.

Yes & no. I mentioned it when people where hyping up Brad Johnson as a savior & worthy of the nod in 2006 instead of thinking Childress should do something smart like getting Garcia in FA."singersp" wrote:

That 9-7 record was in 2005, Tice's 4th year, not his first. I did not compare that season to one of Childress'. Kind of hard to compare that to Childress when he hasn't see a 4th year yet.

Re: Are We Turning The Corner
I think we are.
I was impressed with our game against the Lions.
The Lions came in with a lot of confidence and aggression and we outplayed them.
Especially when T-Jack came in.

:
As for turning the corner.
I hardly think so.
We still have the following issues regardless of our record.....
a.
A OL that is like a turnstyle at times.
We should have dominated at the line in the running game today.
The first half wasn't anywere close to what it should have been like.
b.
QB Play.
Although TJ came in and gave us a spark, not sure if he can do it again and Gus is just completely awefull.
No way we should have given up that many INT's to the Lions.
We are close my friends, however, those two things need to be addressed before any corner is turned. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
