I don't know about sub .500, but it sure feels like the beginnings of another 3 year plan.

Why all the pessimism? The Vikings actually have a coaching staff this year, that alone is enough to cheer about. All the 'stars' in the world doesn't make up for having a deficient coaching staff. Sure, they win games when they have a better team, but the close games are rarely won by the inferior coaches. It is time of optimism, the offseason. Every team in the league thinks they have a chance this time of year.

Yeah why all the pessimism. Our D is going to rock this year. New linebackers and a real D coach. I think BJ is going to really surprise everyone this year. He stepped in last year and didn't lose games for us. And he stepped into a really crappy offensive plan. He will shine in the WCO with a really good line and real running back not a RB committee. Also the Packers don't look like they or Detroit is getting any better. The vote is still out on Chicago. Also FA isn't over and the draft hasn't even happened yet. There are teams out there that are going to have to struggle to get under the cap and we could see some later great pickups this year. I think the coach and front office are making really smart choices so far.

Re: Are we really building championship team?

I agree with the approach we have taken so far. The only thing I am dissapointed with is the way we handled the Culpepper issue. They let the whole situation go out control and are now at a point where we might get just a 3rd rounder for a franchise QB.

I grew up in a developing country so my mentality is different. It's mostly about value for me.

    - Chester Taylor: We need an upgrade and we got it. I believe an elite player like Edge or Alexander would give you 300 or 400 more yards for the season than a Taylor as long as the line is good. I (personally) don't want to throw a few more millions for those extra 300 or 400 yards. Besides, 1st round RBs are pretty successful for the most part (if last year was anything to go by) in case we decide to still draft one. Besides I still think MeMo can carry the load if you give him a chance and a line to run behind. I see these two competing for the starting job.

    - Ryan Longwell: Edinger or Longwell? It's all the same to me. I think it's a slight upgrade.

    - Ben Leber: Yeah we don't know who he is, but his coverage skills are supposed to be good. I think we paid him a little too much, but if he is everything our staff thinks he is, it will be a steal. I would have loved for us to pick witherspoon, arrington or peterson, but if they don't fit the system, their athleticism won't do much. This also lets our current crop of young LBs to step up now that they have a real LB coach (previously it was Cottrell so don't get me started).

    - KRob: We need a explosive #1 WR and we got one in K Rob. Best move we made.

    - Hutchinson: I think we're throwing a lot of money at this guy. But you get what you pay for at this position. You saw what we got last year. Hopefully Hutchinson will be the difference. I also expect Marcus Johnson to play a major role this year on the other side.

    - William Henderson (scheduled meeting): I think this is an excellent move (if we sign him). If we're bring back the I package I'd rather have a specialist blocker who blocks well rather than poor Wiggins back there! If we run to the side with Kleiney and the RB behind Henderson... WATCHOUT!
    Halo 4. Start another fight.

I am not worried. I trust the coaches and their decisions. I didnt really care about getting the edge considering his age he prob wants 1 more good contract to start his decline. I say our RB was already in house, either O. Smith or Memo if he can toughen up this off-season. The big names mean nothing but big contracts. Everyone has to start as an average player then blossom when they hit the right system. I see our team as a Patriots type of build. Alot of good players instead of a few greats.

I didnt know about henderson. He would be limited in use, but would help in our big sets. Could you imagine running towards the left? taylor follows henderson with a line that has birk/hutchenson/mckinne and a te in Jimmy. Dang, thats nuts

Re: Are we really building championship team?

Everyone is saying this and that about the players, but I think the biggest factor right now is our New Coaching Staff.......

If they can coach the players to be the best they can at their positions and coach the players to play as a team, well the sky is the limit..

Bottom line to me is, we are dealing with pro athletes, all have the physical abilitys to play and play well. But it's the mastering of ones position and the mind set of being a winner and playing as a team.

This is what the coaches have to portray themselves and install in our players.

I believe in Childress and this young group of coaches, I think they are bringing a fire to the team that hasn't burnt in some time.....

I'm putting my trust in them and our players to come together as one and give us all one hell of a season...
