Re: Are we making a statement?
I was not a huge fan of it, but I didn't think it was "classless." The Pats have been doing it when up by larger margins and in clear field goal range. I would not have hated seeing Longwell taking the kick, but it was not an easy kick ... no need to punt. The Halfback pass, two WR passes against Oakland, fake FG ... they are all making other teams see that we have our tricks to go along with our horse.

Re: Are we making a statement?
It would have been a long FG try. It was the kind of thing where we might gone for it in the base offense on 4th down if the score was closer. I don't see this as rubbing it in. In particular, we gave the ball to Dugan. He's not usually a scoring threat.

Go Vikings!

Re: Are we making a statement?
Maybe we DON'T need to draft another QB.
Keep it up, T-Jack!When there's weather to report, I report the weather.

Re: Are we making a statement?
i liked it..
i think it was used as a reward. kind of like the first play of the raiders game. they said they got to do it because they had a good week of practice.
interestingly enough, right before the kick, my bro said that it was going to be a fake.. i said that would be ridiculous.. i then are crow in front of my whole family.i m better than you, so just give up...

Re: Are we making a statement?
I'm guessing they are both plays the Vikings had planned for the game. And when it came to use them we did.
My only complaint is maybe we should have saved them for a close game where those plays would matter."There is good and there is evil. And evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I will not compromise."

Re: Are we making a statement?
I don't think running up the score is a bad thing by itself, because this is competition, after all.
The only concern would be leaving our stars vulnerable to injury.
When there's weather to report, I report the weather.

Re: Are we making a statement?
A fat, balding, crooked toothed, glasses wearing, beast drinking wise man said this on page 2 and it is the only reason to run up the score at this point, no matter what spin all of you want to put on it.

I hate to disagree with all of you.
There is only one reason the coaching staff (not just the Chiller) made that call and it wasn't because they are trying to making a statement nor are they trying to give other teams something to think about.........
With the Wildcard race as close as it is there could be some pretty complex tie breaker scenarios.
In this case, Points come to play someplace in there.
He, just like any team in that position will try to get as many points as they can so that they have the potential to come out on top if possible. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
