My Analyse:
This guy is very versatile. In some ways, he reminds me of the Vikings' 1st draft pick this years, Percy Harvin.
Just like Harvin, Perretta is listed as a WR, but he has also lined up in the backfield alot (he had an impressive average of just under 6 yards per carry at Boise State).
Also like Harvin, Perretta is considered a bit undersized to be playing in the NFL
(Harvin: 5-11, 195 lbs. Perretta: 5-10, 195 lbs)
but that doesn't mean that they won't be good players. Size didn't stop receivers like Santana Moss and Laveranues Coles to become highly successful NFL players.
Many people also compare Vinny Perretta to Wes Welker, and I can see why. They look very similar on tape, both in stature and the way they play.
Here are a few of Perretta's plays in college:

Re: The Vinny Perretta thread
Very interesting.
Don't want to be a naysayer here, however, I wonder if he is being brought in as a camp body?
We sure have alot of short fast WR's in camp this year. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

This is likely true, but you never know. He can impress in camp, make the practise roster or even find his way onto the depth chart.Very interesting.

Maybe we want a guy to play the Percy Harvin role on the second team. I don't think Childress is one of those coaches implements different offensive playbooks if a guy is in or out.Very interesting.

Or he understands that 3/8 of his games are against teams with WRs like Devon Heston, Calvin Johnson, and whoever the heck the 5 fast WRs are on GB... we are moving towards a division of pretty quick receivers."Marrdro" wrote:

As for this guy in particular.
I don't see how he makes the squad.
Reynolds? (I think?) is going to have to fall off as is to make way for Harvin.
Allison and Rice have shown some potential and I'd have a hard time believing an undrafted guy will come in and unseat them. The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

Re: The Vinny Perretta thread
I'm cool with having as many guys brought in as possible...you never know when you're going to get a diamond.
I think it's funny that the current NFL defensive player of the year was cut about a billion times.

It's a good chance to get to know something about these guys. Other than Ian Johnson, I don't know much about these players. We have had some luck with UDFA's, hope we have some more luck with these undrafted guys, and maybe a surprise roster addition.HEY,
