Has to be done by Wednesday or its back to 6 games. Washington is getting into the mix now, and knowning Snyder they will offer a arm and a leg for him. Its either gonna be St Louis, Minessota, and unlikely but possibly Washington.

I just don't see them pulling the trigger on this one. I just don't see how he is going to be of any benefit to us in time to really matter.

He hasn't been to training camp and won't be in game shape for weeks after getting here.

He has been in a totally different scheme than what we run. The Philosophies between the Coryell type offense SD runs and the Walsh offshoot we run are night and day. Camarillo still isn't up to speed and he has been here for weeks.

Once he knows the plays and is in shape there is still the timing thing that needs to be worked out with the QB and then he has to understand how to run the WCO routes and know where and when to expect the ball. The offense he is used to running is much less reliant on timing than ours is.

Lastly all of the other subtleties like blocking responsibility, shifts, and even things like studying film on the defenders he will face (which might be totally different than the ones he is used to facing)will take time to adjust to.

Now it is entirely possible he could show up, strap on the cleats and proceed to give us 120 yds and 3 td's a game without a hiccup, but that is just not what we have seen from WR's that have been brought into this system and coached by this staff so I am not sure it is a smart move to count on this scenario being somehow different.

Has any receiver ever given 120 yards a game and three TDs for anyone?

If we trade for him tomorrow he is eligible to start practicing as soon as the Lions' game final horn blares.

That means he has THREE full weeks of practice before he has to take the field against the Cowboys ... that is PLENTY of time to "get into game shape" and he still plays TWELVE games for us. I don't see how that is "getting here too late to help."

For only a second round pick and a one year contract ... I see very little reason NOT to pull the trigger at this point.

By game 8 or so we would have V-Jack, Sid, Percy and Cam all healthy, and even better if Berrian ever shows up.

Don't overpay ... second round pick at best ... but if he comes for that, I see no reason to pass.

I agree with you in certain areas but also disagree in others. I know hes trained all off season with Donovan Mcnabb, not going into camp does hurt but he can learn the playbook and can start getting into shape during the bye week since thats the only time hes able to start practicing with his new team if they have a bye week during his suspension. I thinks hes a high enough caliber reciever where he will be able to get in shape quickly, should have the playbook down before he even steps on the field.

I predict that the Vikings trade a sizable chunk of their future to get Vince in the forlorn hope of saving their present.

It may win them a couple more games this year, especially if Rice comes back strong. But is winning nine games instead of seven worth it?

Net loss in the long run.
It is this season or bust!

TJ doesn't know how to utilize WRs. Favre will be gone! Plus there might not be football next year.

There is a certain mootness to the discussion.

Get Jackson.....get Randy Moss....but how is the ball going to get to them without pass protection for Favre???

The only thing that could get us to a winning season would be the acquisition of an Excellent offensive lineman.

Highly unlikely......as is a better than 8-8 season.

Evidently, Jackson may not leave southern California.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Vincent Jackson is a "long shot" to be traded prior to Wednesday's NFL-mandated deadline.

Do you really think he will play on a one year contract?

How much money are you willing to shell out for 12 games?

The crappy thing about VJ's situation is that he wanted up front money, guaranteed money that is. That is money that the team that utilized his talents the last few years for cheap should want to pay him out of courtesy but is difficult for us to stomach.

For him to come out and play 12 games on a one year contract, that is to risky for him. One year guaranteed money is less than 3 year guaranteed money. Even if you gave him slightly over what he would average per year, he still runs the risk of getting injured without the security of a large contract.

I don't mind giving up the second round pick.

A lot depends on how desperate he is to get out of there and how bad they want to get rid of him.

    The stress must be incredible.

It's probably almost enough to drive him to drink.
