In any event, expect the hard-hitting sure-tackler to be back on board as training camp arrives. If not, Dovonte Edwards could get his big opportunity, and that may not be such a bad thing for the Vikings.
Edwards may get his big opportunity anyway.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Winfield starting after training camp.
(Unless Doss is moved to CB).
Wow.
Already over Ced Griffin, are we?
Nope, still a big fan of Griffin.
I think those two will be battling it out for the other starting spot and I honestly don't know which one will win.
Ced's a stud, IMHO, and I can't see Devonte moving past him.
But then with Charles Gordon as the 4th, I feel *very good* about the Vikings' CBs.

Agreed.

And we got McCauley too now. I'm really excited to see what he will be able to do. Probably fighting for the dime-spot

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Winfield returns

Friday, June 1st, 2007 by Kevin Seifert

CB Antoine Winfield participated in the Vikings’ mandatory mini-camp practice this morning, ending a two-month absence from Winter Park. Winfield said afterwards he would continue practicing throughout the weekend and would report to training camp on time, but he did not dismiss suggestions that he has been unhappy with the team’s long-term direction.

Video Interview to go along with the first Winfield returns article I posted. Same story as above, but this link to the same article, from KSTP has an interview with Winfield.

Re: Vikings: Winfield can ensure happy minicampers

the thing about winfield is that he doesn't need to be great in coverage.
the role of a corner in the cover two, is to be physical at the line, bumping the recievers at the line, then covering the flats.
once the wr gets past about 10-15 yds or so, he becomes the safeties responsibility.
so ideally, Winfield is exactly what we want.
a physical corner, who can bump the reciever, hang with him for 15 yds, then cover the flats or run.

All kinds of articles and discussions out there.

Some believe it is over his contract, some believe it is because we haven't made the playoffs, some believe it is because of how a few players have been/were treated.

Ultimately though until he speaks we just don't know.

I believe one of these articles Singer has posted, has stuff in there from his agent who says he will be at todays camp.

I believe Winfield missed the OTA's to attend a friends wedding.

I found this nugget while perusing for articles;

...Nate Clements married Cleveland childhood sweetheart Melissa Duncan at the Hotel Derek near their Houston home last weekend, and the guest list was impressive: Minnesota Vikings and former OSU teammate Antoine Winfield...
