Thread: Vikings win SuperBowl XXXIII!!!

After seeing a link to whatifsports.com in another thread, I couldn't resist.
Atlanta beating us in 1998 was obviously a fluke.
What if we had gone... I almost didn't want to try it.
I had to do a little bit of research to see who was listed as the away team, what the weather conditions were, etc.
And then I nervously hit the Play Game button...

VIKINGS WIN 55-16!!!!!

I don't know how long they keep the links active, so here is a summary...

After a rare Robert Smith fumble, the Broncos are up 10-3 in the first.
However, Minnesota would tie the game with a minute left in the first, and never look back.
Randall Cunningham goes 13 of 21 for 191 yards with 5 TDs and 2 picks.
Moss, Carter, and Glover each caught one TD, and Reed caught two.
Smith and Palmer each marked up a rushing TD as well.

Even though Terrell Davis had a career day (157 yards on 26 carries), the Broncos couldn't capitalize as the Vikings Defense manages to come away with three INTs and a fumble recovery.

It's still hard for me to swallow to this day, but i thought we would have matched up very well with the Broncos back in "98"
and in my heart, I thought for sure that was going to be our Championship Year...





I actually cried and didn't talk to anyone for like 3 days after that loss to the Falcons.... > :'(

You handled it pretty well.
My girlfriend's father yanked his TV and cable out of the wall and threw the TV into the street.
I'm dead serious.
He was a Vikes fan, no doubt, but he was more angry that he lost a $300 bet.

So, as long as nothing was broke/no one got hurt.......

AND IT'S OK!!
THERE'S STILL THIS YEAR.......ok, now I'm going to go cry.

That was a heart breaking loss.

That was a horrible feeling that day.
I still blame Denny for that loss.
How do you take shots down field for 17 games and then because of one fumble get conservative the entire second half and the last 40 seconds in the first half.
That still makes me sick.

Whats worse is I was watching that game in a sports bar here that was 75% falcons fans, 5% Vikings fans, and 20% disinterested.
So I had to put up with that crap, plus when I got up from the bar I had to get in my car and drive straight down to Atlanta as I had a dinner scheduled with a customer down there that night, and a conferance I had to attend right down there in the heart of downtown Atlanta for 2-3 days and I had to put up with all their civic pride crap.
Every business had their "Go Falcons" signs up everywhere.

It was three of the most nausiating days you could imagine.

Stalin Colinet...2 sacks???? Did he even have two CAREER sacks?
