Thread: Vikings Will Work Out Brandon Jones on Friday

Vikings will bring in wide receiver Brandon Jones, most recently with the 49ers, for a workout Friday. Jones was waived by S.F. this week.

Hmmmm ... this is interesting. I thought we were fairly confident with the group we have.
I mean Rice, Berrian and Harvin are in ... so Johnson, Mitchell, Lewis, Payne, etc. all battling for that four and five spot seemed like enough.
Jones had a couple decent seasons in Tennessee though and I think that he had an injury issue last season.

Combine that with Rice and Harvin having their own issues considering any extra bodies to get practice time is something to look into.

Wow I was not aware of that. Surprised that was not bigger news on here. Maybe I missed the post. We are definitly in need of a WR with Percy being questionable.

I had not heard that about Jaymar either.

Damn ... that sucks for him. I hope he can find his way back into the league somewhere one day.

As for Rice and Harvin's "issues" there is no chance they are not on the roster come Game 1. That leaves two spots to battle for. One of those is widely thought to be Greg Lewis for sure.

That leaves one spot.

Extra bodies is always one thing to look into ... but this always shows that they are not that confident in Marko Mitchell and Logan Payne in particular and they also must not think they have found a gem in Small, Biddle, Brown or Hamilton.

Those guys cannot feel good about them bringing in another body to battle for one spot.

Ex-49er Jones on team's radar for receiver help

Jones, 27, has been slowed by ankle and hamstring injuries this offseason. He spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans and had his best production in 2008 with 41 catches for 449 yards and one touchdown.

This says to me that Harvin's migraine problem is worrying the FO. It doesn't seem to be getting better and in some ways maybe worse.

With Harvin's issues and of course Johnson going down it's not a surprise to see something like this.
