I have read on three sources, including ESPN that Childress has been contacting the assistant coaches he wants to bring in. So it looks like Loney and Cottrel are GONE!

I guess we will find out how wide open Wilf's doors are to his own personal "Fort Knox" are by mid-day tomorrow:

CHILDRESS HIRE HINGES ON DEAL GETTING DONE

We've confirmed through a league source with knowledge of the situation that the Vikings are negotiating a contract with Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress to become the team's new head coach.

The hiring will be made official if a deal can be reached with Childress. As of 8:30 p.m. EST on Thursday night, an agreement has not been reached. In fact, we're told that numbers have not yet even been discussed.

    Stay tuned.

Wow, that would be something if it all blew up in the "Brain Trust's" face and Childress walks because of the money on the table ... We are learning alot about our new owner really quickly early on in his regime.

    From V.U.:

Childress also has Midwest connections, having served as offensive coordinator and QB coach at the University of Wisconsin from 1992-98, during which time the Badgers played in five bowl games, including two Rose Bowl victories. In 1993, the Badgers set a school record and ranked fourth in Big Ten history with 455.2 yards per game. Vikings running back Michael Bennett, who played under Childress his freshman season, thinks highly of the coach.

“Brad’s a good guy. He knows offense and knows defense, Bennett told Viking Update. “If he’s one of the candidates, then I think he’s a great fit. He’s a great family guy. You hate to say he’s this kind of mold, but a mold like a Tony Dungy – just a great all-around guy. Players really have a lot of respect for him.

...I was figuring Bennett as being definately gone next season but with the Childress connection...who knows?
    Even babies know the difference.

Childress is well know to highly dislike T.O., but he does know first-hand how good T.O. is ... so you never know ... but Owens is highly doubtful.

Good, no chance of Owens coming here then.

Your kidding me right? You make a statment like, "Who the F is this?" and then follow it up with "Your telling me that this is all they could find?"

Get informed before you make a weak attempt to judge. Try Google .... it's all the rage these days with the youngin's.

I don't know what it is with all of you that say they wanted saunders first but Childress is OK.

Go back and look. Everyone knows that Vermile was the offensive mind behind KC and the Rams. Thats why when he left the Rams they only did good until the players Vermil left started getting old.

If Saunders is so good then why doesn't KC want him to stay? They are willing to give up draft picks to get Herm. They also haven't even interviewed Saunders, but have no problem letting other teams try and sign him.

    Think about it.

You thought I was serious? Why would I not want a coach with experience? Or a coach that went to the bowl last year? My bad. I was kidding.
