    Re: Vikings, WCCO discussing ways to avoid blackout

    the only way a team is coming to toronto is if its a game like they've done in the UK & mexico or where ever now.
    Its the National Football League.
    National = American teams.
    toronto is stuck w/ the CFL

    Sellout!

    Blackout averted
    November 1st, 2007 – 10:50 AM by Kevin Seifert
    The Vikings announced today that WCCO-Ch. 4 has guaranteed the purchase of 700 tickets for Sunday’s game against San Diego, allowing the team to meet its minimum requirement for a Metrodome sellout and avoid a local television blackout.

    (We’re sending out a search party for the other 650 tickets that moved between the close of business Wednesday and this announcement. As of Wednesday evening, the team had about 1,350 tickets left.)

    Ultimately, WCCO executives came to the same conclusion as those at KMSP-Ch.9, who bought 400 tickets earlier this year to avoid a blackout of the Sept. 9 game against Atlanta. Like KMSP, WCCO stood to lose some $250,000 in advertising revenue had the game been blacked out. On top of that, WCCO would have lost its lead-in to the second game of its Sunday doubleheader, the much-anticipated New England-Indianapolis game.

    The announcement came a little more than an hour before the NFL’s noon deadline for sellouts.

    Vikings avoid blackout
    The Vikings barely beat the deadline, but they have indeed sold out again.

    Steve LaCroix, the Vikings vice president of sales and marketing, said Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers will be televised locally WCCO TV and that the television station has guaranteed the purchase of the approximate 700 tickets still available as of late this morning.

    Tickets are still available for public purchase through Ticketmaster.

    It is the Vikings' 100th consecutive sellout.

    It might be a sellout but I would be happier if every seat was filled to create the Thunderdome again.
