Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
Quote:
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation have advised PFT that Booker worked out for the Vikings this week, and that the Vikings were ready to sign the former Dolphins and Eagles tailback, who entered the league in 2007 as a third-round pick out of Florida State. But the Vikings refused to pay the $150,000 transfer fee — and the UFL has refused to waive it.

Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
I hear Culpepper and Garcia are the stars of the UFL. Lol. That league is such a joke. (not that Booker would be bad to try out, we need a 3rd down back) The UFL is just funny to me.
I understand why there are players who go there, no problem with that. From a fan's standpoint, though, I would only pay attention if there was a player who could potentially be a Viking, like this. I just don't see why someone who would follow a league with players who are all has beens, or never were.
Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
I think the whole idea of a "Third Down Back" is ludicrous.
Third down is when you especially want your BEST back in the game. He's not there....you lose a threat.
All that's really needed is a little better blocking effort by Peterson.
Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
Aw crap,
They fire the Chiller and all of a sudden they can't sign anyone. I was afraid this was going to happen. We are screwed now, any chance we can get the Chiller back?

Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
I am suprised they did sign him. Saw a article last week were they were looking at 3 or 4 of them.
Truth of the matter is I thought they would sign the DE they were looking at before they did the RB.
Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
I thought they'd want to shore up the failing O-Line!
They must have a plan, but the sooner we get some O-Linemen the better.

Geez.....sometimes it's better not to show everyone that your knowledge of football is limited to Madden  j/k
A thrid down back is basically your change of pace back. A Rb like M. Turner is extremely gift but is not much of a threat out of the back field. A thrid down back like would offer you more of a threat on 3rd and 7 than a guy that is simply going to be a pass blocker. Leaving in Turner, would tip the defense to what the offense was doing as far as pass protection. You bring in a Booker type and the defense still has to worry about the threat out of the backfield and blitz pick up. This is the type of back we should have drafted...not the FB Gerhert we traded up for. Drafting best and trading up for Cook would have been a better deal. Or drafting Cook, drafting DT Odrick in the 2nd and picking up Dwyer or Blount in the 5th or 6th...would have served us better.
Re: Vikings wanted to sign RB Lorenzo Booker
i really dislike the term "third down back" as well. Change of pace, yes. TDB is too restrictive, IMO.
What I wouldn't give to have a duo like KC's Jones and Charles. Now there are two guys who complement each other amazingly well.
