Sure the economy sucks in alot of areas, however, if they look around, some of the areas that want a team and are willing to put up the cash to get a stadium, have pretty gol 'darnit strong economies.

My guess, the Wilfs already have a short list of communities of that ilk so that they can get the ball rolling.
20 games isn't alot to get a new stadium deal done, stadium built etc.
    nope, they'll go to Toronto.
THey can play in the Skydome while Toronto works on building a new Football Stadium (that they would have to build anyway if the Bills moved)

I'd say thats certainly the best option, mainly because I can drive 2 hours to go see them.
    LOL, I hear ya.
Heck, I could fly to Toronto just as easy as flying to MN so that would work for me.
Course, Bowers Hill is only 22 miles from my house.

    :P
yeah, but Bowers Hill doesn't work for me, so Toronto is is

    Why not?
You could fly down a day or two early, wet a line on the boat, suds a few and then see the game.

on a students budget who is away from home for school I'm not flying anywhere.
$22 greyhound bus from Waterloo to Toronto each way.
A game in toronto would cost me $45 for the bus, $35 for the beer and cost of a ticket.

    I'm not sure.

They do already have the stadium though... I guess it wouldn't really cost the city anything. It would only bring money in.
    What stadium would that be?
    The Coliseum.
    And it's a shithole.

Re: Vikings want 'Metrodome Next' - Legislators' response: Not now

Red was a idiot, his threats were baseless, since the team was locked in till 2011.
If Red continued his frugle ways, the Vikes would be envying the Lions.
Red also created a LOT of ill will during his tenure, which unfortunately Zygi has to deal with.

    Zygi is NOT an idiot.
Threats just don't work with government.
He's also working to build a very strong team, spending some serious $$$$.

If the Vikes win the SB in 2010, Zygi will have a hot commodity, which he can shop around for a stadium or owners.

There are a few reasons LA would work without a huge contribution by the state/county/city tax payers:
    1. Depending on where Zygi might increase the $250 mill because additional development around the site could be more lucrative than in the Twin Cities area.
    2. LA area would easily generate LOTS more revenue in higher ticket prices, merchandise, sell outs, etc.
    than the Twin Cities area.
    3. The LA area might be able to pay for the stadium like AZ did, by making out of staters pay through hotel and rental car taxes.
    4. Zygi could sell a portion of the Vikes to help finance a new stadium, especially when you consider Forbes had the Vikes franchise valued at $839 mill, LOWEST in the NFL.
What do you think a LA Vikings franchise with a new stadium would be worth?
I'm thinking around the $1.1billion, almost double the $600 mill, Zygi paid.
Not a bad ROI in these economic times.

    Here's the valuation link: http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/30/...gs_309201.html
