    I'm not sure.

They do already have the stadium though... I guess it wouldn't really cost the city anything. It would only bring money in.
    What stadium would that be?
    The Coliseum.
The coliseum couldn't handle an NFL franchise without major upgrades, which is why all scuttlebutt has been about new facilities in or around the L.A. area, the Vikes would be better of in the Dome.
As for the Rose Bowl, the residents of Pasadena are opposed to a team in their city, and Angel stadium has never really been the mix.

The state has no money and because of the unallotment that was just done by the Gov, the state will be in worse shape over the next 2 years and cities with a population of over 1000 will see big cuts to their LGA,which is going to mean big cuts, greatly higher taxes, or both across the state.

Then there are the budget shifts that move payments for k-12 education from this year to next year and no sign of where the funds for next years k-12 will come from.

Here is a link to the page where you can find the unallotment schedule for every city in the state over the next biennium.

I would be very surprised if anything is done this year and with the economy as it is, a building that is paid for should be attractive right now.

But to the Vikings it isn't. They will not renew the Metrodome lease & there isn't much time left to build a new stadium before the lease expires.

"We'll only have 20 games left on our lease after this season," said Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president for public relations and stadium development. They have "no interest" in extending the lease.
When Wilf runs out of options, what will he do with the team?

I know, I know, he stated that he would not move the team, but he's never said he wouldn't sell it.

    He also made this statement a few months ago;

“I would have been interested 15 years ago,” Wilf said in the days after Favre announced his Second Annual Retirement.
    "No, I'm not interested.
    No way."

He also stated Tice's job was not in jeopardy during the 2005 season.

Bottom line, what he says & what he does are sometimes two different things.
    Big deal.

Where the hell are they going to go? States all over the country are up to their eyeballs in debt and that is not going to change for years. The "old" system of revenue escalating at rates far exceeding the national average is done. History.
Things have changed and there is not going to be a situation where teams can hold one city hostage and play them against another to see who can build them their stadium with taxpayer money.

So where will Wilf take the team? California with it's 30 billion dollar deficit? LMAO.

Where else is there a state or local government with enough cash to build a stadium and with a population that will tolerate that type of expenditure while basic services like fire, police and maintenance services are being cut?

Name me a town or a state.

The state is holding the cards right now and he really has no good alternatives.

I'm aware. There have been proposed renovations as well as naming rights for the coliseum to attract NFL teams. It has the capacity, location, and history. With renovation, it's a great place for a team.

All the Angels would have to do it take the rock wall out again and it would be like when the Rams played there

He wasn't fired, he was hired by Red, Wilf's honored the contract and he wasn't offered a new one.

So your bottom line can pretty much go either way

Eh ... they will not sign a longterm lease back up with the Metrodome ... but if they don't get the new stadium up in time, they will just sign and extra year or two with the Metrodome.
I think with the problems other cities are facing right now, moving is going to be a little tougher for Wilf and I don't think he is going to in the long run.

Ed Roski would be the principal financier for the new stadium to be proposed in the City of Industry, which is currently being challenged by the city of Walnut.

The Vikings lease with the Dome would likely expire before any renovations were completed at the Coliseum. There would also be difficulties in dealing with USC, which currently holds a long-term lease there
which allows the school to opt-out if the scheduled renovations fall off track.

    Bowers Hill VA.

Sure the economy sucks in alot of areas, however, if they look around, some of the areas that want a team and are willing to put up the cash to get a stadium, have pretty damn strong economies.

My guess, the Wilfs already have a short list of communities of that ilk so that they can get the ball rolling.
20 games isn't alot to get a new stadium deal done, stadium built etc.

    nope, they'll go to Toronto.
THey can play in the Skydome while Toronto works on building a new Football Stadium (that they would have to build anyway if the Bills moved)

I'd say thats certainly the best option, mainly because I can drive 2 hours to go see them.

Heck, I could fly to Toronto just as easy as flying to MN so that would work for me.
Course, Bowers Hill is only 22 miles from my house.
