Re: Vikings VS Seahawks: Official Post Game Discussion

Just finished watching the game a second time.
    For whatever it's worth:

    QB:
    TJack:
nicely done. There is a quiet confidence.
    A sense of purpose.
Granted, it was the first quarter of the first preseason game...but, he looks like a different player.
    Frerotte:
don't know why I like him, but I do.
I'm comfortable that he can manage the ship, given out running game.
    Brooks:
love ya kid, but, this is it.
    Booty:
he is, and should be, critical of himself...missed some throws, he knows it.
    He will play better methinks.

    RB:
    HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL.
Looks like Hicks can contribute if need be.
There is a reason Young wasn't drafted, although he looked decent on some plays.
    Tapeh will be fine.

    O-Line:
    looked tired.
Radovich, as I've posted before, is gonna be a keeper.
    Chase looked bad, very slow.
    Sullivan looked like a keeper.
    Decent pass blocking...awful run blocking.

    WR:
Berrian is a blaze of quickness and lightning...he will make TJack better, obviously.
    Wade, plays his role perfectly.
Rice is gonna be a red-zone monster.
Allison, continues to be very promising...there's just something electric about the kid.
Jaymar...like him, I think he could find a spot; if Reynaud doesn't take it.
Furgie...love ya, but, youth may take your spot.
This group appears to be ready to answer the bell if the Vikes find themselves in a 30+ point shootout.
Berrian makes this unit immediately legit.

    TE:
I'm not gonna start the ITUS thread about Shiancoe needing to go until after Game 4 of the Regular Season.

    D-Line:
    I'm very concerned about depth.
There were some flashes, however, they were getting blown off the line of scrimmage consistently.
Kinda scary that a guy named Douzable was the best of the game.
Jared Allen is gonna be fun to watch, for sure.
Ray Edwards...let's hope he stays out of anger management; we need him to step up bigtime.

    LB:
this unit is gonna need to step up.
With an emphasis on pass rush from the D-Line, they are gonna get a heavy dose of draws and screens.
Those are the plays that gashed the Vikes for the most part.
Also, Circui proved that he is nothing more than a Special Teamer...didn't look good.
Rufus looks to me like a keeper...he was a tackling machine at Oklahoma, always around the ball; played similarly vs Seattle.
He needs more time, but, I think he'll make it.
Leman...too early, looked kinda stiff and slow.
Erin Henderson - flashes, not bad for a first game.
Was not impressed by the Pope, or Herron.
Erin definitely has a shot IMO.

    DB:
clearly, Frazier and Chilly wanted to see alot of guys.
    Gordon continues to improve.
Tyrell; is it me, or does he look like a 6 or 7 year vet?
He just looks like he should be out there...also, he gets people on the ground, no matter what it takes.
Sapp, Boulware, Sumrall, did nothing for me.
    McCann made one good play.
    Marcus Walker...mixed, but promising.

    ST:
Darius Reynaud looks to me like he is the perfect kickoff return man...built like a RB, long speed like a WR; he's strong enough to break the first tackle, fast enough to take it to the house.
Of course, so is Aundrae Allison
    ;D.
Jaymar, on punt returns could be rather dangerous.

    Other observations:

    1)
Chilly is in control of this team.
    2)
    Hasselbeck can pitch the rock.
    3)
Seattle is a good team...hands down, the best team of the NFC West.
Lead pipe lock to win the division IMO.
    4)
I'm gonna draft Bobby Engram; again.
    5)
Zygi is better in a conference room than on TV.

    Love watching Rufus!
Reminds me a little bit of Ed McDaniel.

I am being a bit of a dork and using alot of cliche's today........ :
Anyway, call me old school (cliche'), I didn't like the way he celebrated when he made a good tackle.
Kindof a "Look at Me Coach"thing.

With that said, I agree, I hope he continues to excell.
I really liked what I read of him during the draft.
I was so disappointed he blew the knee.

Re: Vikings VS Seahawks: Official Post Game Discussion

    First thoughts..

    Starting offense looked sharp.
    Starting defense looked like crap.

Boys and girls, the reason the Vikings will NOT make a deep playoff run this year is injuries.
The Vikings' depth is donkey crap.

    Yes, Sharper DID play.

Tyrell Johnson, I thought, did a ok job..
He was making tackles against the SeaChicken's first stringers..
Only 10 yards from the line of scrimmage.
    But he was making tackles.
I'm not worried about his development.

I missed most of the 3rd and all of the 4th quarters, so I have no more input.

I am sure this one will draw the most ire from all of you K-will crotchsniffers, however, his numbers continue to decline while Phat Pats continue to increase.
I actually saw 1 blocker pancake K-wills ass all by himself in the Seahawks game.
Twice, JA got to his spot fast enough to get the sack, however all the QB had to do was to step up in the pocket (that wasn't collapsed) to avoid him.
This year there is no excuse for him to not increase his production and provide a bigger push up the middle.
If he doesn't I will be putting DT up as my number one draft need in the 2009 draft.

    ..
I've been noticing a lack of solid production from K-Will.
And I agree with you in that if his production (tackles/sacks/rushes) doesn't increase with the addition of Jared Allen, there is no excuse for it.
He may work out nicely as trade fodder.
Don't get me wrong, I love it when he makes an INT or fumble recovery for a TD.. but how many more of those are we going to see?
We can't expect him to do that every year consistently.. but we can expect him to increase his tackles/sacks/rushes.

not a chance!! the mans a beast, and with Pat back.. u'll see why the williams wall was so dubed.

the only real pre-season game worth viewing criticly is the 4th. then we'll see maybe a half with starters. until then it's just full pads prac vs another team in game like conditions.

our front 4 is going to give this D an identity. and with the depth we have, we'll be very effective for years to come.
if we see a business side of the game move, it could be. training booty for a year/2 and then trading him. Bchill has mentioned that before, but i doubt we'll see one of our linesmen traded, to much $ has been put in to change either side up now.
