With a strong performance Sunday, Kelly Holcomb had a chance to win the Vikings' starting quarterback job for perhaps the rest of the season.

Instead, he didn't even finish the game after suffering a neck injury on a third-quarter sack by Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Juqua Thomas....

Adrian Peterson's 'rookie mistake' on a second-half kickoff, Brad Childress' failed challenge and a stingy Eagles defense add up to a sequence of frustration for the Vikings.

The Vikings' latest loss didn't come down to one mistake or bad decision, but each played a part in the outcome........

Though opponents find huge holes in the Vikings' pass defense, what do the Vikings practice? An out-of-bounds play on a kickoff based on an obscure rule.

Re: Vikings vs. Eagles post-game articles

Well that's alot to digest, man was that a Ugly effort, after we started again strongly. Penalties killing us again on offense. Holcomb has no pocket awareness at all., and that sack by Juqua Thomas was as dirty a play as I've seen this year, and he will be fined for facemasking and driving Holcomb into the ground.

The air whoosed right out of us with that muff by AD to start the second half, who is reviewing these plays and having Childress waste the red flag challenge and lose our timeouts. We had no energy until Holcomb got hurt and Bollinger came in and was impressive.... yikes... who saw that happening. Next week, or any week for that matter it won't matter who is the QB, if we can't protect up front. Awful, even the Saucer got whooped.

We need a premier pass rusher, someone who has to be accounted for every play, so we can help our DB's. We let McNabb cut us up like a frog on the dissection table. He has been sacked alot this year, so it was real dissapointing to not get him with our front four. It took a blitz by Leber to finally break the sack drought in the third Qtr. Udeze added another, but clearly we have to get better at rushing the passer.

If we cant start pressuring the passer we cant win games. Look at N.O. they were trying to strengthen a week pass defense for 4 games, now they realized they just have to bring pressure and they have rattled off three wins.

If the QB has time then there is no CB who can keep a receiver covered.

    Thanks Singer. Nice reads.

Two very astute posts as well.
I agree, a stud DE in FA next year plus a QB and another WR sure would go along way to erasing some of this stuff.

Lots of CAP $$$ just sitting around waiting for the right players me thinks. ;D
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
