They will do that no matter what. And the worst part is many will consider the Saints to be a winning franchise now that they won a Super Bowl. Never mind they have only had 9 winning seasons out of 42.(compared to the Vikings 29 out of 48) Even if the Vikings pound them 75-0 it won't matter. The only thing that counts is winning a Super Bowl. Until then, what the Vikings do in the regular season means squat to everyone except Viking fans.
Excellent post, and love the avatar my friend.

i think the saints' 212-48 edge in return yards (punts, kickoffs, ints) rarely gets taken into account when analyzing why the saints won. two kickoffs directly led to short fields for their offense.
    Excellent post my friend.

There is a chucklehead on here, goes by Marrdro, who has been hacking on our Kicker for a few years and has been lobbying for someone other than him kicking the ball off.

I think he is gonna be happy with the KOFF specialist the staff added this year.

On a side note, did anyone catch the Sound FX saturday were they showed the KOFF against the Aints and who missed the tackle?

Ole Heath Farwell trying to horse collar the dude and missed. Go figure huh.

huh.... yeah, because its not like the other 10 players on kickoff DIDN'T have 50 yards to make a tackle. Its one thing to only kick to the 10, but there's 10 other guys perfectly capable of making a stop, and they didn't.

And besides, who's to say Lloyd would ahve hit a touchback? What if he didn't kick it deep, and they had the exact same return?

    Re:Saints to win again

Just curious how exactly you feel the Saints upgraded?

I could sit here and tell you the Vikings upgraded, but to be honest, we didn't upgrade much at all, at least not on paper. We lost a key piece of our offense in Chester Taylor, which we hope Gerhart and Moats can offset, but on paper, we certainly didn't get better. On defense our corners are banged up, but we've got a solid CB in the draft (we hope), in Chris Cook, and we've got young guys like Benny Sapp and Asher Allen who seem to be progressing quite nicely. We also lost a key offensive lineman in Artis Hicks, a backup, but a very valuable, versatile backup. I could be wrong, and I forget his name (Jamal Brown?), but I believe the Saints lost a similar role player.

The Saints also lost a great defensive leader in Scott Fujita to Cleveland, and a solid, yet underrated D-lineman in Charles Grant to Miami. They lost Mike Bell, their best goal line back to the Eagles. They didn't exactly bring in any big-time players via free agency or trade, and although it's always hard to judge a draft before any of the guys play, their draft doesn't exactly jump out at you. I these moves "upgrading".

I wouldn't say the Vikings "upgraded" either, but I do recall reading we're the only team in the NFL returning all 22 starters (Favre?).

Saints are frauds. You cannot upgrade a fraud.

All of these stats being tossed around doesn't really mean squat. The only one that matters is the "W". They won, we lost. In the end, it's the only stat that counts. Sacks, TOP, Yards, blah, blah, blah..."We should've, we could've" It's all crap! Champions find a way to win.

So with that said, my prediction is that our front four will pin their ears back and sack the livin' shat out of Brees and company, shut them down, and pound them into the turf. Set the tone early and show no mercy. Pound the ball on offense and use our big tackles to ram the MF'ing ball down their throat.

Ooh I have to stop because I'm getting fired up.

The front four will have their ears back no doubt, and my prediction is that Pat Williams ends Drew's season in the second quarter. But it wont be a cheapshot it will be the Madden curse!
