Vikings: Too easily dismissed

TOO EASILY DISMISSED?

Whether the Vikings should have pursued Deion Branch, now with Seattle, could come into focus during today's game

The problem is not giving up a first-round pick for Branch, or paying him $39 million. The problem is giving up both.
Couldn't agree with that more. Especially with that attitude Branch has.

Re: Vikings: Too easily dismissed

I think the final comment about Childress trying to build a team with character guys nicely spotlights the situation the Vikings are in...and I almost said problem instead of situation.

Look around the NFL today.
With very few exceptions, the NFL's Receiving Elite seem to be focused on how big their contracts are, not on how well their team is doing.
We've seen it time and again with Owens, Walker, and Branch being the names that spring to mind.
The rash of extremely talented but extremely selfish players of late is really starting to be a concern.

Meanwhile, Brad isn't looking for a prima donna, he wants a team guy.
A guy who will leave it all on the field and out of the media.
That's going to be tough to find.

We THOUGHT we had it with Robinson...we were wrong.
He spent all last season trying to polish his tarnished rep...and we all forgave his past and looked forward to his future.
Then he showed that he really only cared about Koren...and now he's on another roster, serving out his 1 year suspension..

Finding a talented #1 receiver who is team focused is going to be tough...if not impossible.
So I wonder what types of compromises Brad is going to have to make to his philosophy if we ever really land one.
All I know is that I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping we find a Steve Smith somewhere.
