Vikings | Team showing interest in D. Smith

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports free agent S Dwight Smith (Saints) said several teams already have shown interest in him. He mentioned the Minnesota Vikings as one of those teams.
We will proberly only pick this guy up if Offord gets cut for his drunkendriving or something.. Sounds weird with all the DB's we have.. or maybe they dont have faith in Tanks rehability after him coming of an injury

How many safeties do we need? Geez.
I like Smith and if Tomlin really wants him that says enough to me that it would be a good pickup despite our numbers at safety. Who knows how bad Tomlin wants him, I'm just pointing out that it would only be a good thing to pick up a solid player who's played for your coordinator. I like Tank and Offord but Smith would start right away if we bring him in so its not like we'd be bringing him in just to add another safety to a large group of safeties. If somebody is available who is better than what you have, I say go get him.
saftey is a huge question mark on the team.
if sharper goes down, all of a sudden.. our saftey depth does not look good at all.
I Think maybe we have been thinking our DBs are unstoppable, giving them a little too much credit. Smoot still has to prove himself after last season, and some are predicting a big year from him, like hes the next deion sanders. im sorry but i cant get behind that. B Williams outplayed him last year and Williams is gone, i know we got young guys, but they'l be good to spell Winfield who isnt exactly as young as he used to be either. Lately teams get hit with multiple injuries at one position, being prepared might be the right plan to go deep into the playoffs, and having Safety type attitude in the DB position would be good too.
I would not be bitter at all if we happened to pick up D Smith.. He is a solid safety and could compete for a starting job at SS
