Sid Hartman, of the Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings currently are $12 million under the salary cap, with about $2 million needed to sign draft choices, but apparently there aren't any plans to sign more players.

I say hold on to it, and look to make major signing that will help us a lot.

That's good news. Gives us some wiggle room when cuts are made (today, I think) but also puts us in good position for next off-season.From KFFL;

Nice to have some coinage just in case the injury bug hits before the trade deadline and some deals have to be made.

Re: Vikings still have $12M in cap space
There may not be any plans to sign any more players but it sure gives us options if the right player gets cut due to other teams mismangement of their cap space.
Am I wrong in thinking that this has little or no effect on next year? Dont salaries get bigger twords the end of contracts which mayor may not happen next year?I.B.O.T. #213
