Nothing that surprise me EXCEPT Tauren Henderson. I liked the production from the kid and hoped he would get a chance on ST. I have a feeling he will get picked up by someone.

P.S. - The page keeps giving random errors (maybe they weren't supposed to release this yet?), but if you go to the Vikings home page you can see the names.

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with free agent FB Brandon Jones and waived WR Kelvin Kight, CB Ukee Dozier and rookie free agent RB Taurean Henderson.

Jones is a rookie free agent who played at Purdue. Jones ran for 1,661 yards (4.6 avg.) and 10 TDs while catching 49 passes for 619 yards (12.6 avg.) and 6 TDs. During his Boilermaker career Jones was teammates with the Vikings 4th-round draft choice in 2006- DE Ray Edwards.

That suprised me because I really thought he had a shot at making the team as a ST player or a 3d down back similar to what we had with David Palmer.

The Vikings released three young developmental players today and signed another one in anticipation of their first training camp practice on Friday.

Rookies and select veterans report to training camp in Mankato Thursday and start practicing Friday, but three former Vikings who were practicing with the team this spring wonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t be there.

The Vikings on Wednesday waived wide receiver Kelvin Kight, cornerback Ukee Dozier and running back Taurean Henderson, a rookie free agent who seemed to fit the West Coast offense but didnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t stand out in spring practices.

The Vikings also added fullback Brandon Jones, a rookie free agent out of Purdue. Jones ran for 1,661 yards (4.6 avg.) and 10 TDs while catching 49 passes for 619 yards (12.6 avg.) and six TDs during his Boilermaker career.

The Vikings were among a handful of teams vying for Ahmard Hall after he failed to get drafted in the supplemental draft two weeks ago. The Vikings offered him a contract, but he eventually signed with the Tennessee Titans. Hall was a former US Marine who walked onto the Texas squad in 2003.

The Vikings have been searching for depth at the fullback position since backup Joey Goodspeed tore his anterior cruciate ligament in minicamp. Veteran Tony Richardson will be the starter at fullback, and Jones and fellow undrafted rookie Steven Jackson will compete for a backup role with the team.
