Do you have a slightest idea, what would happen to the economy if they let all these financial giants like AIG, BoA and Citi fail? Its easy to quote some clown and come up with easy solutions like "let them fail." However, if you DO let them fail, the country may not recover for years and even decades."Storm" wrote:

Yes, but the other two parts were played by the financial institutions (not necessarily banks only) and the lack of regulation.
People were greedy/stupid and wanted more and more things which they couldn't afford. Banks/funds kept re-selling the debt 5 and 10 times over, as if the source debt was something indestructible and would be repaid timely forever. Lack of regulation helped this madness to grow large enough to wreck havoc on the entire world economy.
See, being a money-grubbing maniac is indeed bad. No matter how you justify the free market theory, there is something called "common good" which SOMETIMES needs to be respected above your personal profit.
greed
: a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is neededwhen some one gets greedy beyond their means you let them fail. but greed is what puts steak on your table . when was the last time you turned down a raise? why not drive a 88 honda civic , or are you just soo greedy that you want something fraud
1 a: deceit , trickery ; specifically : intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right b: an act of deceiving or misrepresenting : trick2 a: a person who is not what he or she pretends to be : impostor ; also : one who defrauds : cheat b: one that is not what it seems or is represented to be
newer with more creature comforts. doesn't the 88 honda get the job done ? or are you sooo greedy that you take a better job so you can afford a newer car? in fact do you really need a house? why not just pitch a tent and fish for food? do you really need a computer with internet to browse forums on football? or is that just a desire for possessions
so how come all of a sudden the banks became soooo stupid that they started making loans that people couldn't afford? loans you didn't have to put any money down? loans where you didn't have to prove how much you made? did banks become dumb over night? or was it government forcing banks to make these risky loans?
as far as regulation it wasn't deregulated during the bush era, says johnathan macey who teaches corporate law and finance at yale. so why didn't it happen sooner? john stossel himself quoted your "greed and lack of regulation" within the first 30 seconds of the video i linked , but since you didn't watch it ill link it here again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e11-_cE63Us
some clown who teaches at yale? pla-ease . what have you provided to support your side , i brought a 20/20 clip . if you want more they have another called bail outs and bull. pffft 20/20 , world knows they are hacks.
and ruining the dollar would be worse than letting failing companies fail. the only reason the dollar is worth anything is because of americas population believe it has value. it is not backed by gold and banks do not even have to have the dollars they lend out. it's called fractional reserve, check it out. but what happens when you flood a market with currency that is not backed by anything? ask the germans from the 20's , it becomes fire fuel for heat. but hey we can just add to the total that we owe "ebil" china which last i heard is over 500 billion. thing there is they are talking about dumping the dollar.
when every one starts dumping the dollar is when we are in real trouble.
what these bail outs are really doing is mortgaging your future and your childrens future . the debt will become unrepayable and the world economy will dump dollars creating complete us economic collapse.

oh thats funny you said it was lack of regulation and greedWhy didn't it happen earlier? Simple - because the housing bubble reached its critical mass last year.
"Storm" wrote:
how bout you reread what i quoted from the dictionary
As for greed, wanting something better and greed are not the same thing. If you re-read what you quoted from the dictionary, its not even close. I DO want a better car and a better job; but will I cheat, steal, lie or create ponzi schemes to get it? Hell no.
one is called greed
and the other is called fraud

But I, personally, don't think the seating area is bad at all for football.
The troughs bite, as do the ludicrous food lines, but the rest of it is fine.

It may not have been the greatest sports facility but damn did it have character, and that is what makes memories.
