Vikings Stability & Vegas Odds

MINNESOTA Vikings 2005 record: 9-7. Projected: 7-9

MINNESOTA Vikings 2005 record: 9-7. Projected: 7-9.
Sunday, September 03, 2006

HELLO: Running backs Tony Richardson (Kansas City) and Chester Taylor
(Baltimore); offensive guards Steve Hutchinson (Seattle), Artis Hicks
(Philadelphia) and Jason Whittle (N.Y. Giants); backup quarterback Mike
McMahon (Philadelphia), and placekicker Ryan Longwell (Green Bay).

GOODBYE: Quarterback Daunte Culpepper (Miami), running back Michael
Bennett (Kansas City), wide receivers Nate Burleson (Seattle) and Kelly
Campbell (Miami), defensive end Lance Johnstone (Oakland), linebacker
Sam Cowart (Houston) and defensive back Corey Chavous (St. Louis).

STORY TO WATCH: Brad Johnson has gone in four years from being Tampa
Bay's Super Bowl quarterback to Culpepper's backup to now Culpepper's
replacement.

STATS 'R US: The Vikings revamped their offense after ranking 25th in
2005. Taylor, who ran for 487 yards on 117 carries last season behind
Jamal Lewis in Balti more, could be the top back ahead of Mewelde Moore
(662 yards on 155 carries). The key to their success will be Richardson,
arguably the game's best blocking back. Wide receiver Koren Robinson
went from saving his troubled career last season to being cut after his
recent escapades while allegedly drinking while driving. ... Linebacker
Chad Greenway, the Vikings' top draft choice out of Iowa, is out for the
season after wrecking a knee covering a kickoff in the first preseason game.

WHY THEY WILL BE PLAYING ON FEB. 4: Johnson is remarkably efficient and
Taylor is the tailback he never could become in Baltimore.

WHY THEY WILL BE GOLFING ON FEB. 4: Lack of a red-zone offense.

WHAT VEGAS SAYS: 30-1.

Vikings' QB situation better than rest of NFC North.

Vikings' QB situation better than rest of NFC North
Minnesota is the only team in the division without a pending quarterback
controversy. And that includes that Favre guy in Green Bay.

The Vikings have the worst backup quarterback situation in the NFC
North. Then again, they also have the most stable starting quarterback
situation in the division.

They're also the only team in the North that has no hint of having to
experience the dreaded and divisive quarterback controversy, either now
or at some point this season. And, yes, that includes Green Bay.....

You can tell these guys don't watch all the games. But it makes you wonder about the other things they say. The Vegas odds suck, unless you bet a bundle and they win the Super Bowl!

30-1 isnt really that bad. middle of the road.
and you dont need a backup QB if your starter stays healthy.

Skum, I was thinking the same thing. We definately have a red zone offense, and now our backup qb situation is much clearer. The real question mark is the run game. so, that confused me some.... Vegas, what do they know??
