It's difficult to imagine that one player could be so greatly missed on special teams.
But Heath Farwell's absence and the Vikings' record-breaking season for special-teams futility forever will be linked.
Re: Vikings sorely missed Farwell on special teams
Ohhhhh brother.......... ::)
I've got an idea.
Lets rename that group to Special Tackler.
Gimme a break.
Sure he was missed, but damn, maybe Kluwe should have thought about how his kicking impacted those returns instead of trying to say they happened because we didn't have ONE guy there to tackle. >:(
Re: Vikings sorely missed Farwell on special teams
Just another retarded article that meets a deadline.
The team concept is lost in a game that is obviously all about the team.
Re: Vikings sorely missed Farwell on special teams
are you fucking kidding me?
This guy has problems... I'm not going to comment anymore, because i feel dirty having devoted the last 30 seconds commenting on him.

Problem for me Bleed is that we will have at least 5 - 10 posters that will come on here and believe this crap.
How easily the mindless masses are swayed by the press....... ;D

Re: Vikings sorely missed Farwell on special teams
Yea football is a team game, but he certainly was the centerpiece of our special teams if he led the team in tackles for the past 2 seasons.
Re: Vikings sorely missed Farwell on special teams
I think many times kluwe out-kicked his coverage not getting enough air under it so there was atleast 10-15 yards between the returner and our tacklers at the beginning of the return....this opens up a ton of holes and gives the returner alot of options.
Yeah kluwes got a hell of a leg but if he would kick it higher so we could get some coverage closer to the returner before the return that would be great or if he could learn to just kick it out of bounds and we wouldnt be having this conversation.
Having farwell out was a pretty large impact, its like thinking of how much better our D could have been with EJ, napo did well but he is no where near EJ, same with farwell hes a great tackler and although i still dont think he is the only reason our punt teams sucked because people like abdullah and frampton did well and showed up on special teams but it def had an impact.
He was the leading special teams tackler on our team last year.....not an excuse at all but was missed this year
