    Re: Vikings sign Fred Evans

I thought we were trying to get players with high moral standards now.
But, if we are going to sign some players with questionable characters, why didn't we sign this guy out of Penn State?

    http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1226221

He had two sacks and 5 tackles against Dallas.
They are talking about him filling Booger's role rather well.

All this character talk is a bunch of poop!

It is unrealistic to think this team is going to consist of a bunch of Choir Boys.

The difference from the Love Boat era and the current situation is the New NFL Commish.
The new policy that Pac-Man helped put into place or at least was the guinea pig for, gives all teams a bit more help.

Plus that is what the suspension system is set up for, I didn't see if this was his first strike or second strike on the substance program.
It said suspension likely, is it the 4 game suspension for the second strike or is it a suspension for his conduct with the Taser and two arrest?

Anyway, stop being such wussies over the conduct policy.
It isn't like we are trying to sign Vick.
It is alright to forgive sometimes and give second chances. The Viking organization is doing a good job with players and addition, and I trust them on this one.
Why shouldn't we trust the organization?
I hope I am not going to eat my words on this one.

Evans has more to lose if he screws up again than the Vikings do.

Besides, we are overlooking the fact that we still have guys on our team that are on the second chance system.

Yeah i don't get that move. But ya never know, he could turn out. As long as the dude doesn't do that kind of crap again. Just doesn't seem like a Childress move though.

From what was said on the Dolphins end, they didn't want to give this guy up, but felt they had to.
He was going to be starting in Miami.
He looks and sounds like he could be something great.
For those of you who don't believe in second chances, we had a guy here who was cut and received a second chance and is going into the hall of fame next year.
Everyone makes more than one or two mistakes.
Just depends on his determination to succeed.
Is your willingness to suceed at football greater, or is your willingness to be a sub character bone head greater.
These players need to ask themselves that.

I am leery about this one. He bit the cop for crying out loud.

He seems pretty thankful to have another chance, but I have heard that song and dance before.
The last person we gave a second chance to led the cops on a high speed chase while drunk, and threw out WR corps into shambles just in time for the regular season to start.

Fool me once shame on you.
    Fool me twice...
At least in this case there is a front office body instead of another player that pushed to bring him aboard.
Hopefully it will work out, but I will be viewing him with skepticism for the next season or two.

    I missed this one.
    When did you add it?

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was fun watching Randall Cunningham and Jeff George and Daunte Culpepper throw flying meteors out to Randy Moss and Cris Carter. It would have been a lot more fun, I think, to see the Vikes win a gol 'darnit championship."
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I was surprised by this quote in the article:
The Vikings have made character and accountability key buzzwords since Childress arrived two years ago, and they eliminated more than 90 players from their draft board in April because of character concerns.
I wonder who they were and how high they would have gone?
