Vikings: Short pass plays on third down part of problem

The Vikings rank 24th among the 32 NFL teams in third-down conversions, a position supported in part by a dubious statistic that illustrates the limited nature of their offense.

Have to start throwing the ball down the middle of the field a bit.
This may open up the wider stuff.
Spreading the field wide would do us good.

I can't believe people get paid for writing such articles like this one. Anyone who has watched one game knows this.

I doubt spreading the field with our quarterback and offensive line would be a good idea. I doubt they would be able to protect well enough, and Brad wouldn't be able to avoid the pressure.

Here's an idea.
If it's 3rd and 9, throw the ball AT LEAST 9 yards!!!
Throwing a 2 yard dump pass and expecting the reciever to break a couple tackles and pick up the first down will........well.........make you 24th of 32 teams in 3rd down conversions.

You are right on here.
I have no idea why we refuse to throw the ball past the first down marker.
We might as well start teaching Brad how to quick kick, because we don't even try to pick up the first down on third and long.
We will either hand it off up the gut or throw a little dump pass.
If we are going to do that then we might as well quick kick it.

Yes. We need to throw farther than 2 yards, and hey! There's Wiggins over there! He might could catch a few?
Re: Vikings: Short pass plays on third down part of problem
This is the second time I've looked at this thread, and now that I read it again I just want to go "No shit sherlock!" Let's see....we have third and long, and we gain short yards, which inevitably means we're short! Gee...might be a good idea to stop that!
