Vikings shopping at Trade deadline time?
It is getting old seeing our Defensive Secondary being torched. Now, we will see if in the next 24 hours IF our Vikings Management thinks it is time to do something about it.
Who are the Teams that are already "out of it" that may give up a good Vet for pennies on the $?

This story is a little bit broader, and addresses other D-issues...not the same.

Re: Vikings shopping at Trade deadline time?
Of all the options I've heard thrown out there, the one that intrigues me is Ronde Barber of Tampa.
Knows our flavor of zone defense well, always plays big when it counts and good veteran leadership.
He's a bit long in the tooth, but maybe a good stop gab until we figure out if TJ is going to be starter worthy material.
I heard a couple analysts say he may/should be looking, not sure that he is though.
Tampa is apparently moving to more of a bump and run type coverage that takes Ronde a bit out of his comfort zone as well.
Coming to the Vikes would be a good way for a guy like Ronde to finish out his career.
Re: Vikings shopping at Trade deadline time?
I have not seen anything yet on any national Sports blogs. But trading a low pick for Ronde, or maybe signing a ( healthy? ) Chris Mc Allister could be a solid move.
Is our buddy Phat Pat living off of his Rep at age 37?
We need more run stopping abilities from somewhere. It is not the same as last year.
Any other Trade / Free Agent pick up rumblings?

I don't know if I would go that far.
Ole Leslie has been rotation guys in for him early and often.
Not sure all of the problems can be traced to plays that he was in there.
Would be a good study if one had access to the films......

Phat Pat still plays very well, one of the best NG's in the league...He still has it!
He's not the problem with the runs that have worked on us.
They are hitting us at the DE/T slot, and outside the DE......Nothing still goes up the middle, thanks to the Wall...
Re: Vikings shopping at Trade deadline time?
Keep Pat in the rotation - sure...yet look at the Stats / trends from the last 3 seasons. Going downhill.

Our buddy Pat is part of the "missing link". Great guy, keep him. But he is not "blowing up the pocket" much any more.
A trade / late-season pick up for a younger version of Pat would not hurt. D back help is necessary.

Might already be on the roster and being groomed to replace Pat after his contract is up.

According to the link, they are quoting the Pioneer.
They think we need D-line help.
I haven't seen this as a need.
I actually think that we are doing what we are suppose to with the D line.
Anyone have thoughts on that?
I guess if they are talking about how we are going to be able to stop the Saints and they are assuming we can't get to Brees without another high quality/profile D-lineman.
I think if we need help, it would be the DBs
If everyone is basing this on yesterdays game, we can fix the tackling.
We can also fix some of the problems we had.
This clip was from Winfield injury thread articles on AW.
Childress said this,
Quote:
"Missed tackles will kill you, but particularly in air, in space," Childress said. "A guy like (Baltimore running back) Ray Rice is able to elude and bounce off and keep his pads down low. It would be missed tackles (that hurt the Vikings), and in a couple of instances we had some missed assignments where there's A) a guy is not doing what he should do, or B) a miscommunication where everybody is doing one thing and somebody else is doing another thing."
I am pretty sure his comment about the missed assignment was directed at Sapp.
The guy had a great game against the Pack and StL, didn't do so well vs Bal.
We could use a different back up to replace Paymah.
Avery got him in St. Louis and Mason/Clayton got him in Sunday's game.
