This offense goes thru A.P. and the running game and now that we have Berrian, Shaincoe will be even further down the food chain in terms of offensive opportunities.
Time will tell but my guess is he wont catch more than 35 balls and score more than 2-3 T.D.s this year which for a blocking T/E is excellent! But, IMHO he will never be an offensive threat in the NFL.
    Hmmm....
So the other 31 teams systems must not require the TE to catch balls that are thrown to them, because that is Shanks problem.
The 3 TD drops are just plain unexceptable.
Being in the Vikes system another year will improve his route running and timing, but who wants to throw to a guy that might not catch the ball.
I think it was only 2 but yes that is totally unacceptable.

Edit: It was only one dropped TD!

He just didn't get a lot of looks last year, and like Wade, Ferg, Rice and Allison, it was his first in the scheme, and there were times when all those guys didn't get to the right spot, missed a block, or TJack just missed them.
I expect both TJack and these guys to all be better, and more, "on the same page," in general.

On the other hand, two of his biggest plays were passes from someone other than the QB.
Rice threw that big bomb to him, and Mewelde tossed that TD that KC took away.
I think we'll see more of Shank this year!
Yup the one vs. the Falcons. It bounced off him and was picked off by Hall. Shank is on of the guys my eye will be on this year.

Randy Moss had 9 drops & Braylon Edwards 12, but whose counting?

I think Shancoe is gonna prove some people wrong, IMO he had a decent season last year but was defenitly underutilized for whatever reason, maybe it was becase we hardly threw the ball and Tarvaris was in his first year starting. Shancoe had his highest production in games where Tarvaris did not play. Proving that Tarvaris needs to get better at utilizing his TE. Its also important to keep in mind last year was Shancoes first starting in our system along with a number of players. This year Shancoe should be able to go out and play without thinking, he knows what to do and where to be. I like the fact he dropped a few to become quicker, he has some decent speed and play making ability, he's also a very sound blocker. Shancoe has plenty of potential and look foward to his second year in.
You couldn't be any more right.

    With TJ as QB:
    12 games
    Targeted 24 times
    13 receptions
    98 yards
*I subtracted the pass for 79 yards thrown by Rice

    Other QBs:
    4 games
    Targeted 19 times
    13 receptions
    146 yards

Quite a big difference in looks between TJ and others. Very interesting.

I'm glad you pointed that out Marstoc. I was at that game. It was a hard thrown ball that he tried to catch with both palms up, if I recall correctly. A tough catch at best.
The other one was in the end zone with arms extended and the defender slammed his arm down between the ball and his body. Not Schiancoes fault. A good defensive play. No way that was a drop.
    My problem isn't drops.
I don't think he is a very good blocker.
I really expect him to do better this year if he doesn't have to spend most of the season helping the tackle block.
All that blocking limited his opportunities.
He did try to chip and get open, but TJ was pressured and didn't find him.
I hope he can find him a lot more this year.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

Moss also had 1493 yards and 23 TDs. Not to mention he was targeted 159 times. Edwards had 1289 yards and 16 TDs. He was targeted 153 times. I bet if Shank was targeted that many times instead of 43 he would of been over 1000 yards.

He might have been getting more looks by the other QB's for many reasons.

The play called in from the bench.

The opponents we had in those games. Two of those games were against GB. KC & PHI the others. If our WR's were covered too well, the TE is going to get the looks.

The QB's themselves. I believe because of arm strength, you'd see T-Jack getting the call to throw the long ball to the WR's instead of a shorter pass to a TE more so than when Bollinger & Holcombe were in there.

I don't. He's a WCO TE, not a WR. The other thing also is that V-Shi's drops are going to be from shorter range for the most part over the other two.
