MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Vikings safety Willie Offord has been fined 600 dollars and ordered to perform 32 hours of community service after pleading guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree drunken driving.

Offord was sentenced today by Hennepin County District Judge Bruce Peterson.

The State Patrol stopped Offord about 2:30 a.m. April 18th as he drove west on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley.

Offord was the Vikings special team captain in 2005, and was recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee when he was pulled over. He is expected to be healthy when training camp opens.

With the new "Code of Conduct", I wonder what the ramifications will be from Childress & the front office.

Vikings safety Willie Offord pleaded guilty Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court to misdemeanor fourth-degree driving with a blood alcohol of more .08.
Hennepin County District Judge Bruce Peterson sentenced Offord to perform 32 hours of community service.

And Offord paid a $600 fine, said his attorney David Valentini.

Offord was stopped by the state patrol about 2:30 a.m. April 18 on westbound Interstate Hwy. 394 in Golden Valley. His blood alcohol level was not available at that time.

Valenti said Offord challenged the legality of the stop but Peterson rejected it.

Offord, the Vikings special team captain in 2005, was recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at the time of the incident but is expected to be healthy when training camp opens.

    Ward released

The Vikings cut cornerback Marvin Ward, who spent the end of last season on the team's practice squad. Ward, who played college football at Northwestern, signed with Buffalo as a rookie free agent after last year's draft. He was claimed by the Chicago Bears off waivers in August but let go before the start of the season.
