No quarterbacks are involved in defensive end Brian Robison's latest pursuit: He's dusting off his considerable shot-put talent for a run at the Olympics.

Re: Vikings' Robison takes his best shot
AWESOME!
They're letting him throw again!
Former big 12 champ, I was hoping he'd get back in the circle, but didn't know if the organization would let him.
For those who don't already know, I'm a huge track and field fan and former thrower myself... so this really sparks my interest.
And since this is about NFL players and Olympic throwers, here's Michael Carter(not MikeCarter from PPO)

Christian Cantwell, Reese Hoffa, John Godina, and Adam Nelson are all 70 foot throwers. He'd need to break the 70 foot mark consistently to be considered US Olympic Team material.

Re: Vikings' Robison takes his best shot
Doesn't he just have to have one of the aforementioned 4 shot put'ers to have an off day at the qualifiers MrA?

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Those guys as well as 3-4 others all throw farther. And I was wrong about Godian, apparently he's only throwing the discus nowadays.Doesn't he just have to have one of the aforementioned 4 shot put'ers to have an off day at the qualifiers MrA?
The others consist of Dan Taylor, Ryan Whiting, and a few others I can't think of.

Re: Vikings' Robison takes his best shot
A couple years removed from track and field, he is understandably rusty. I bet that he is stronger now then he was three years ago, and with training and hard work, I wouldn't count him out. 70' is the were the bar is set, so get after it, and good luck Brian. Chasin' down a dream. It would be great to have a Viking in the summer Olympics in 2012.

Re: Vikings' Robison takes his best shot
Interesting. But I really want to see him sack QB's more than anything. I still think him at LDE and Allen at RDE is our best lineup.
