Sept 8th can not come soon enough.
    That is a fact.
The season opener at Lambeau is eerily similar to the 2003 opener at Lambeau.
Hovan and the Vikings were fired up after losing to the Packers towards the end of the 2002 season.
There was almost a brawl on the field after the game.
The Vikings won the opener at Lambeau in 2003 and history will repeat itself in 2008.
Unfortunately, I won't be in Vegas this time like I was in 2003.
    When I bet the moneyline.
    Paid $1700 to my $1000.
    It was a great day.
The Vikings got up big before Favre posted a late comeback to pull the Pack within 5, and the Vikings were able to come away with a 30-25 victory.

    Agreed.
I know its just preseason, but They looked pretty awesome at times yesterday.
I particularly love the two plays in a row that K-Will got a sack
(one was just an assist, as Edwards wrapped him up first)
but the second, he just demolished roethlisberger.

Did you see how hard Allen hit Kevin? In a pre-season game. God damn, they are gonna hurt some people this year. Adding the best DE in football to the best interior lineman in football is gonna be hard to game-plan around. We all know you can't run up the gut, so do you run around Allen or around Edwards and at Winfield?

Re: Vikings return to roots with ferocious front 4

I think those guys played at a high level last night, I think Williams will free to do more work this season and get back to double digit sacks. If this happens he will once again be dubed the top DT in the game. What I've been very impressed with is Ray Edwards ability to adjust back to his old position and and be a force off the edge. He looks very solid and he carries his new weight very well, between him and Jared Allen its a nightmare to have to gameplan for. Then when you think about having to block any of the LB's or DB's a guy like Aron Rodgers could in for a rude awakening.

The line played very well in the first have but spent too much time on the field because the offense was unable to move the chains. Once we can get this corrected it makes our defense even better(fresh legs).

I think its also important to note the way the pass rush reflected onto the DB's and there duties. The whole scondary and LB'ing seemed improved while Big Ben looked undecisive. Winfiled and Griffin had quiet nights on the backend with great run support/tackling. Everything will work hand in hand but I liked the way our DB's have handled the pass attack the past two games, if we are able to force coverage sacks like we did when Ted Cotrell was cordinator our numbers will skyrocket.
