The Vikings have completed a long-expected restructuring of tight end Jim Kleinsasser's contract, according to NFL Players Association documents.
The Vikings have completed a long-expected restructuring of tight end Jim Kleinsasser's contract, according to NFL Players Association documents.
He took a $1 million reduction in his base salary for 2007, dropping from $2.9 million to $1.9 million. His salary in 2008 went from $2.9 million to $2.4 million. It was unknown Friday whether Kleinsasser would have the opportunity to earn back the money through expenses.
Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
Alright, now they can sign another FA WR ;D
Sorry a bit sarcastic there.
I am glad he is staying........ OR ...... does this make his contract friendly enough to allow for a trade?
Package him and a pick for something/somebody........ :
Hmmmmm now I got myself thinking again
:
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
I'm really glad to see that Jimmy K. will retire a Viking. Hopefully they will do the same for Birk.
They are among a dieing breed. Player that are drafted by a team & play their entire career with that team.

Yup, I'm also glad to see that Kleinsasser will retire a Viking. He's a good guy. And it is rare in this day and age of free agency to see something like that happen. Birk deserves the same.I'm really glad to see that Jimmy K. will retire a Viking. Hopefully they will do the same for Birk.

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
One less thing for the whiners to complain about.
:
Kleinsausage is a great blocking TE.
That is his role.
However, I expect a few people will claim, before mid-season, that he should have more catches, and he STILL isn't worth the money he is being paid.
The question to ask is how much do other 'blockers' earn?; i.e OL, TEs.
That's one less roster role for the Vikings to fill in the remainig free agency period, and in the draft.
Good work, Brzezinski!
When we stop to think about it, most folks behavior isn't perplexing after all !

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
Good thing, IMO.
He may drop alot of balls in the flat, but he keeps Chester upright for a few more yards, and thats what he's supposed to do.
He loves to be a Vike, and now maybe he can be one for life.-Sno

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
Awesome now I dont have to buy a new jersey! LOL Jimmy K is my boy! I grew up in North Dakota and watched him play several times in college as well as when he was in high school. Its awesome to see we decided to keep him around...

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
On a side note, if V-Shi is a strong recieving TE, and Jimmy-K is a blocker, wouldn't Jimmy be a great mentor for the young Shiancoe?

Re: Vikings restructure Kleinsasser's contract
He still gets a pretty good deal with $1.9 this year, and $2.4 next year I think.
But we have got room to pay for him with our huge surplus of CAP space.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.
