    Associated Press

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Minnesota Vikings released receiver Jimmy Redmond on Monday, helping to reduce a glut at the position.

Redmond was one of 15 receivers on the roster as the team prepared for a minicamp this week. But the third-year pro out of McNeese State injured his hamstring in one of the developmental practices earlier this month and didn't see much action.

Redmond has played in 26 games in his NFL career, all with Jacksonville from 2002-03.

The Vikings open minicamp Tuesday with Koren Robinson, Marcus Robinson, Troy Williamson and Billy McMullen atop the depth chart at receiver.

I'm thinking Travis Taylor should be before Billy McMullen.

Is that because Brad is favoring his Eagles pickups?

I like Travis Taylor. He should diserve a starting spot. Well thats me, but he's an underrated receiver.

    i agree,
taylor and the robinsons are the only proven (though mediocre at times) receivers. i cant believe mcmullen was even mentioned. someone who was traded for an undrafted rookie. though i will say this>>>are we getting another cris carter?

Never knew some guy named Jimmy Redmond was even in a position to be released by the Vikings.

if we can come outta camp with like 10 wr's fighting for 2 - 3 spots. and say 2 - 3 practice squad spots.. it'll make for good compitation and very good depth for the coming season.

also remember.. some of the wr's are approaching declining years. so get more kids in.. get them practice squad and help them mold into next years core!!
