    Vikings RBs undervalued

We have had some great runners. We seem to have been injury prone at this position. The last few years we haven't had a RB go the whole season like a Priest Holmes or the old Marshall Faulk.

R.Smith injured missed a lot of games.
Bennett Injured missed a lot of games.

This year we have had Bennett injured, O.Smith out on suspension, Moe injured and Moore getting his first starts.

I was looking at the stats for the Viking RBs in my fantasy league for this year.

    Week
    1 Smith = 19
    2 Smith = 7
    3 Smith = 17
    4 Bye
    5 Moore = 18
    6 Moore = 17

If that was one RB for the entire season, that would be the most productive back in the NFL. These points are without any TDs this year.

I think R Smith was a great back but was also undervalued.

The big question, IS IT THE SYSTEM or IS IT THE RBs???

Yeah, some of the wholes that the RB's get to run through are outstanding. But then again you got someone like Moore making somethink out of nothing by breaking tackles and squeezing through defenders. Then you got someone like O. Smith who makes extra yards by making people miss. So its a little of both but i got to give the credit to the system. Big great blocking oline, and all the attention moss recieves backs the defense up off the line of scrimage. Most notably on his side. Theres alot of backs out there that could do very well in our offensive system.

It is partially the system, but the Vikes are drafting great RBs to put into that system...BTW, MM could be the next coming of Marshall Faulk (both Louisiana products, I might add)...he has all the tools.

In my opinion the O-line has a huge deal to do with it.

The line is amazing, but it has been patchwork the last few years.

Lacina, Dorsey, Lewinsky, Withrow and a few others. Even when we lost Stringer someone filled in and we did great.

Either we have excellent back ups or or running backs are that good.

See there is no defining line to differentiate between backs and line as being getter. Therefore they must both be awesome!!!!!!!!!

I don't think we have missed a beat in the last 4 yrs.

Wish we had Stringer still. That was a Sad day. Emotionally it set our team back a year and a half.

Too bad we can't develop D-linemen the way that we develop O-linemen!

MM lacks the speed to be a faulk, but I did mention earlier this year here that he does remind me on Priest Holmes

So did Emmitt Smith in his prime, yet I seem to remember him outrunning the Viking secondary one year on a big, long TD run (BOOOOO!). Alot of times slower 40 times don't translate on the football field into slower players (football speed is different than 40 speed sometimes). In high school, I could usually outrun supposedly faster (faster 40 times) players once I caught the ball, so don't shortchange MM...he has the potential to be a gamebreaker and that is definitely in the Marshall Faulk mold.

I agree with you cajun, although i always like looking at the 40 time. Do you guys really think Dontarious Thomas is faster then MM, its hard to imagine, THE ROCK has great exeleration and quickness. But if bennett was in some of the situations these guys were in this year he would have took it to the house. The main question is can he get hiself into those situations?
