interesting yes, but it is an incomplete analysis. Was Bennet the only variable in those 44 games? Obviously not. Someone -- not me -- can do a multivariate regression or some other statistical magic to analyze the team's performance in those games. It's quite possible that Bennet is a major culprit, but we dont really know for sure when using such partial modes of comparison. Ultimately though, I think we'll find a causal relationship between fishing and game performance.
Not that he's the best coach ever or anything but didn't Denny go fishing on monday after every win?...........Maybe he was on to something I mean we did make it to the nfc championship game.

More info on the Benett trade.

MN is the one shopping him (very active in shopping him BTW), So far we have contacted

Arizona (oline + RB), Miami (RB), Seattle (RB), Denver (RB), and Cleveland (RB)

If a trade were to happen, look for us to trade bennet and a 2nd round pick (could be any pick) for a player and a later pick in next years draft in return. If no trade goes down the vikings will not resign bennet next year so they are trying to get something for him now.

    ******

More NFL rumors, Jack Del Rio is unhappy with his current teams owner. He is looking to move on next year and is said to have made remarks saying he would love to come back to Minni.

BTW, these are things im piecing together from various sources. Info from KFAN radio, Vikings update, KFFL insider via other message board so take it for what its worth.

I like this, get something for him now, instead of just letting go at end of year. Jack Del Rio...hmmmm...that doesn't sound too bad.

If Jack Del Rio ended up coaching here I would die from excitement.

Amen brother. Love Jack as a coach and have been following the Jags since he and leftwich have been there. He's great with young talent and the vets, plus his players lay it on the line for him.

Del Rio is the type of guy I would love to see here. A man with some fire in his belly. Also a trading Bennett would make sense but lets not throw away a 2nd rd pick just to pick up someone else’s backup.
One cold January morning I will wake up and be able to say holy sh** they actually won!

Dont know if this had been posted yet...rumors....rumors....

    Bennett On the Block?

Michael Bennett By Viking Update Staff
    Date: Sep 22, 2005

Denny Green's love of Michael Bennett kicks in once again as the summer turns to the fall of the year.

Denny Green referred to Michael Bennett as a "gift from God" when the Vikings took him in the first round of the 2001 draft. While Vikings fans may have preferred Deuce McAllister, who went shortly before Bennett in the draft, Denny never wavered on his belief.

His relocation to Arizona like so many other former Minnesota residents hasn't changed that. Ever since he took over as head coach in Arizona, Green has been interested in reuniting with Bennett, but, when trade talks fell through before the 2005 draft, it looked as though the only chance Green and Bennett would hook up again would be if he signed as a free agent following this season.

But that may not necessarily be the case. VU has been told that the Cardinals have sent out feelers for a potential in-season trade for Bennett. In the last year of his contract, Bennett will likely not be franchised at the end of the season and, if he becomes an unrestricted free agent, the Vikings would receive no compensation.

However, with Onterrio Smith gone for the year, if Bennett were to be traded, the running game would be left in the hands of second-year man Mewelde Moore and rookie Ciatrick Fason. That in itself might be enough to prevent a trade from going through -- unless the Cards are willing to package Marcel Shipp as part of a trade -- but at least it's something for Vikings fans to mull over.

    THURSDAY NOTES
    * The early Vikings injury report lists Nate Burleson and E.J. Henderson as doubtful, even though neither are expected to play Sunday.
    * On the good news side of that equation, Sam Cowart, Darren Sharper and Kenechi Udeze are all listed as probable.
    * Recently acquired Melvin Fowler took about halft of the first-team snaps at center in Wednesday's practice, adding to speculation that he might be in line to replace Cory Withrow in the starting lineup -- as early as this week.
    * The Vikings plan to help their struggling offense by sending offensive coordinator Steve Loney into the coaches booth Sunday. If that happens, look for assistant coach Corbin Lacina and injured center Matt Birk to help the offensive line on the sidelines.
    * The Vikings signed DE Eric Coleman to the practice squad Wednesday. To make room for him, the team cut offensive lineman Shannon Snell.
