How can the Lions be ahead of us?They have no history, thier pansies. The best and only thing they've ever had was Barry Sanders.
Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

I'm not sure what the forumula is after that.
Here's the formula they used though:

Re: Vikings rank 19th in fan loyalty
Interesting, but there are couple of stats that skew it IMHO.
There are difficulty levels associated with the ability to present the team to supporters, two of them are:
3. Per capita income -- Average income per resident of the BEA economic area, 2004.
4. December temperature -- Average high temperature for the month. Domed-stadium teams are automatically assigned the worst score in this category.
Bascially that means that, every other factor being equal, fans in an area with a lower cost of living and an open air stadium (like Green Bay fans) will automatically be rated higher than fans from an area with a high cost of living and a dome (like Vikings fans).
Other than that one critique though, it was actually a very well put together study and presentation of results.

Re: Vikings rank 19th in fan loyalty
I do agree with this in a way.
If we had better fan loyalty, the season would be sold out, right now even the packers game is not sold out.
If we had better fan loyalty it wouldnt matter who we had playing everyone would still be excited about the season regardless of last years record.
There are a lot of bandwagon fans in mn.
Look at the twins, early in the year no one cared about the team, they start to win and people show up.
thats not being loyal to your team.
Loyalty is being there from start to finish year after year.
The timberwolves can only get fans to show if they are winning, even with the top 5 player in the NBA, the wild are still in their honey moon stage so it would be premature to judge them.
The packers have a waiting list for generations, the vikings dont even have a waiting list anymore.
it doesnt matter where they play, if you are loyal you show up.
I hate the metrodome with a passion, i still keep my season tickets. You republican whore!

Re: Vikings rank 19th in fan loyalty
The 49’ers fans rated ahead of us?
That is B.S. I live in 49’er country and believe me they are the most fair-weather fans around.
Even when they were winning all those Super Bowl back in the 80’s you could tell if the 49’ers won or lost their game that day by what those fans would wear to work.
Nines win then it was 49’ers gear and I have always been a Niner fan.
Loose? Then would not even admit to even watching football, much less be a 49’er fan.
How that for loyalty?

Packers I agree with. They may piss me off sometimes, but they are loyal. Lions... eh, i dont know, is it possible to be loyal and yet in denial at the same time?
WE CAN BUILD ON THIS!!!

In AP I trust

Re: Vikings rank 19th in fan loyalty
I love how people bad-mouth fairweather fans. Who's to say there aren't more fans in Minnesota who count themselves as loyal, but would rather do something else with their $90 than (if that were the situation) see a Vikings team suck it up? I'm not saying the Vikings do suck, on the contrary, I love them just as you guys and girls do, but surely you can understand the economic situation people are in. If I spend $90 I damn sure wanna make sure I enjoy myself with it, or put it to good use like paying a bill or something.
I'm sorry.. I'm just bitter because I support my local football team and, frankly, I'd kill to get more fairweather fans because it'd be a result of a successful team and would bring more money to the club.. Oh well.

I bet we were close to the top from 98-2004. Didn't we sell out every game for thosee 6 years?
