DETROIT — The Detroit Lions ended a 10-game losing streak against the Minnesota Vikings by surviving 20-17 in overtime on Sunday. The Lions’ most important ally in this victory was Tarvaris Jackson, who happens to play quarterback for the Vikings.

Cynical media members were not required to produce this theory. It was one that Jackson offered himself during an interview session 25 minutes after Detroit’s Jason Hanson kicked the winning field goal.

Asked if pressure from Detroit’s front seven caused an epidemic of turnovers, Jackson said: “It was me, making bad plays, making bad decisions...”
