Re: Vikings to play outside for all of 2011?
They looked pretty good playing in the outdoors last night. Looks like a good sign for getting them back outside where they belong.

As I mentioned in an earlier post. No way this takes beyond next season to fix. They built the entire Metrodome from ground up & opened it's doors in 2 years time.
Looks like it will be fixed by March.
Dome repairs to stretch till March

The Metrodome's bubble roof burst in a matter of seconds, but fixing it will take until the end of March.
With additional testing needed on roof panels damaged by the snowstorm that deflated the roof this month, the Dome's operators aren't taking any chances.

Again you forgot about the 40-14 loss to the Bears we took at TCF.

The lengthy repair means that TwinsFest, hundreds of baseball games and other events are looking for new venues.
That's hundreds of events that were scheduled for Jan, Feb & Mar only.
A retractable roof stadium for the Vikings allows them to bring in additional revenue from events such as these. That includes revenue from even the Twins whose new stadium won't be used for Twins Fest.
A retractable gives you the best of both worlds. Football can still be played outdoors.

That just bolsters my point. If they can have that big of a turnaround in only a matter of days, just imagine what they can do over a few seasons. Impressive my friend, impressive.="singersp" #1086295]

So, let them have it at the river center, MOA or any of the myriad of other indoor locations the state has. Hell, have it at the DECC and show the outstate a little love. Then there's this....

Maybe they should think about scheduling those baseball games during a time of the year when they can play outside- You know, like the Twins do.That's hundreds of events that were scheduled for Jan, Feb & Mar only.

They don't generate enough revenue to even cover their own expenses. These are just fluff that they stick in there to make it look like something is happening but in reality they are just being subsidized by the taxpayers.
Yeah, maybe 1 or 2 games a year. If it is too hot or too cold or just right they close it.A retractable gives you the best of both worlds. Football can still be played outdoors.
