Vikings pass on moments of truth
Vikings pass on moments of truth
On April 24, a day after signing free agent Jerome Simpson, Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman beamed about the receiver's speed and athleticism, lauding Simpson as "a genetic-type freak."
Certainly, at that time, Spielman figured Simpson would roll into mid-December with more than 15 catches and 176 yards.

Here's hoping for Ponder to make some progress up to game speed, and Childs and Harvin a speedy recovery for next season! Myself included overlooked this Childs injury and any and all talk of fire Spielman I feel is undeserved. I'd say Ponder is the hugest and only thing to really blame him for.

As well as chemistry with his team. It will take some getting used to.

We should quit pretending, line up 10 Offensive Linemen, and direct snap to Peterson every down. After all, everyone knows we're not really going to throw...not very often anyway...and certainly not very deep.

Hopefully Spielman doesn't have 100% confidence in Simpson & still believes in him like he does in Ponder & Carlson.
Jerome Simpson, 5 years, 25 starts, 86 Rec, 1,180 Yds, 13.7 Avg, 7 TD, 1 Somersault
Troy Williamson, 5 years, 24 starts, 87 Rec, 1,131 Yds, 13.0 Avg, 4 TD, 0 Somersaults
