Classic cable subscribers in GF will not get the Dec. 21 rivalry game
By Brad Schlossman
Herald Staff Writer
With last-second field goals deciding the last four regular-season meetings, the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers have kept fans watching until the very end.
This December, however, nobody in Grand Forks with Midcontinent cable will be watching the rivalry game at all unless they have digital cable.
A channel unavailable to Grand Forks' Midcontinent classic cable customers the NFL Network will be broadcasting the Vikings-Packers matchup Dec. 21.
It's one of eight games this season that the NFL Network is showing as it tries to increase its availability around the country.
The network is on Channel 306 in Grand Forks for digital cable subscribers. It is not possible to order it through classic cable, said Midcontinent's vice president of public policy, Tom Simmons.
It is only possible to receive it through a digital box. Digital cable costs about $10 more per month than classic cable. Customers also have to buy a digital box.
Usually, NFC games are broadcast on FOX and AFC games on CBS on Sunday afternoons. ESPN has games on Monday nights and NBC has games on Sunday nights.
In Fargo, the NFL Network is not part of CableOne's lineup at all.

After reading that story, I'm happy I have Direct TV w/the NFL Package....
I get to watch any game I want, when I want, in the comfort of my home.... ;D
It's sad the cable companys have to play a pitch like that on costumers, just to boost their Digital subscriber #.s.....

The No-Fun-League is in total control of that network, and they're rather draconian about it.
Which is why my digital cable (Charter - Dakota Cty, MN) no longer carries the NFL Network.
I do get to see the game - and it will be in HD!
=Z=
Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
