I'm nervous about how confident I have been over the past week... Everytime hopes get up too high, something bad happens...

Five reasons Vikings' season did an about-face

The Vikings' 1-3 start seems like a lifetime ago, thanks to five factors that have brought an about-face to the season.

Brad Childress stood before his team with a message. A remarkably simple message by Childress' standards, but a message nonetheless....

In the FA era of the NFL, it's all about team chemistry, and peaking, or pulling it together at the right time.
Many teams could have had this potential.
The Vikes clearly have the personnel to do it, and we can should really feel good about that.
It is just as much about CHARACHTER, as it is about talent!!!
I was doubtful of the leadership of this team at the top.
(Chilly)
He's beginning to win me over.
I SAID BEGINNING!!!!
Let's keep it going boys!!!!!!
GO Vikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

NOT DERAILNG THREAD, but, did anybody see the COWPIES last night???
There is conclusive proof that all the talent in the world cannot make up for team chemistry, charachter, heart and brains!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are certainly firing on all cylinders now. Nobody wants to play us.

I really like this team.
It looks like the team I thought we would be at the start of the season.
Short passes, solid running, control the ball and the clock, great defense.

What I didn't see was all these fumbles.
This is just getting old.

Re: Vikings are now surprisingly good - Five reasons season did an about-face

Just read through the linked story in this thread....and saw this:

5. Limiting self-inflicted mistakes

Childress often says that turnovers are the No. 1 statistic in football. The Vikings are tied for 17th in the NFL in turnover margin at minus-1. But they are plus-5 in that area (10 takeaways, five turnovers) in the past four games, all victories.

The Vikings also have cut down on penalties, which plagued them early. They averaged 55.4 yards in penalties per game before the Week 8 bye. That figure dropped to 35.9 yards per game since.

Fewer penalties has helped the offense be in more manageable down-and-distance situations. Before the bye, the Vikings converted only 32.7 percent of their third-down opportunities. They have converted 43.6 percent since the bye.

And after today's disgrace...ouch.
