Linehan, clearly an offensive-minded coach, admits he's been challenged this season while trying to lead a football team and execute an offensive system. The Carolina Panthers shut the Rams out in Week 11, prompting Linehan to relinquish his play-calling duties and increase his attention to the overall effort.

"I basically had to relieve myself of my duties after we didn't get across the 50-yard line in that game," Linehan said. "That's what I did, I put more time into the overall plan. I've still spent all of my time in the offensive meeting room though, but it's been good."

wow. a coach that actually has the humility to admit his playcalling sucks. whodathunkit?

I'm not going to come out and start bashing Childress, but I do wish he would make a note of things like this.

Go figure.. The guy that made the Vikes the #1 offense in the league.. A guy that I think the Wilf's will someday regret not hiring as our HC..

It's not my intention to bash Childress either. Some one pointed out a while back (wish I could remember who or in what thread) that our two biggest victories came in Washington and Seattle. Washington was the first game of the year and Seattle was the first after our bye week, which gave Childress ample time to plan for each. This seems to have worked out well, and it's a shame that Childress spent so much time working on his offensive scheme rather than planning for the broader game each week, because the latter appears to be his strength.

For those who didn't see this one, we may actually see a change regarding the playcalling duties in the future.
